I go for my next doc visit on the 19th...I'm only 13 weeks, almost 14 weeks along, and I'm curious, when do you get to find out the babies' genders?? I've heard everyone talking about the level II ultrasound...my doc said after that visit on the 19th, I'll go for another ultrasound...but is that too soon to tell?

I found out I was having girls when I was 19 weeks preggo and I went for a 4D u/s (just so I could find out the genders :)). I had my Level II at 20 or 21 weeks and they confirmed it then....I was just too excited I couldn't wait and it felt forever away!

Congrats on your twins!! I found out the genders at 17.5 weeks. It wasn't n a level II ultrasound though, we didn't have that until 18.5 weeks.

Thanks! These are my first kids, so I'm really lost when I hear things like "level II ultrasound" or "mono/di" and such...lol. I'm crossing my fingers that we will get to know soon! I'm dying to know so that I can start calling them by their names!!

I found out at 17 weeks. It wasn't my Level II and they wouldn't say it was 100% but you could definately tell. :good:

So what IS a level II ultrasound? What does that mean? 'Cause if my doc is sending me for a separate ultrasound before that...lol...I feel so uneducated.

I found out at exactly 17 weeks. Which was only 3 days ago, I was sent for a high resolution ultrasound due to an abnormal blood test result...well at the ultrasound it was a surprise to learn that the result was do to two babies not one!! It was exciting to learn my husband and I are expecting twins though. The doctor was able to determine the genders. Boy/Girl...it was very clear I was having a little boy. Even at only 17 weeks. I bet you can find out at your next appt.

    Good Luck!

We had our first level II u/s at 15 or 16 weeks which is a little early. She was easily able to tell that they were both boys though. I think it depends on how cooperative the babies are, how good the tech and machine are, and I think it is easier to tell with boys. The level II u/s is usually performed on a higher quality ultrasound machine and measurements are taken of tibia, femur length, skull, belly, they estimate the weights, check the heart chambers, facial structure, kidneys, and many other things I can't remember. I t is basically more in depth than a regular u/s. It is fun and you get to see your little ones for quite a bit each time you go. Enjoy :)

    Congrats on your twins!

We were able to tell at 15 weeks that mine were both boys! They weren't shy at all! With any luck, they may be able to tell! It is exciting to find out the gender. I wanted to start calling them by their names also. I was so sick os saying babies and Baby A and Baby B.

    Good luck and congrats!
