I am scheduled for level II u/s at exactly 17 weeks. I read they do it between 18-20 weeks, when I asked why I was going in early they said b/c of twins. Did everyone else here have this u/s early? If so, could they tell the gender that early?

I had my first level ll ultrasound done at exactly 17 weeks b/c of an abnormal blood test coming back with indication of Spinabifida...at the time I thought I was only having a single baby. Well at the ultrasound we found out the levels were high due to two babies in there....once recalculated everything came back normal. The gender was clearly visible! One boy and one girl....u could def tell Baby B was a boy LOL.

I am sure they can tell u the gender. They were able to see mine right off the bat! Any ideas on what you think you are having or what you want?

Congrats on your twins! Hope your are feeling well!

I go for my next ultrasound Sept 3. So every four weeks I will go for one.

We found out the genders at 17 weeks, but had our level 2 at 20 weeks.

I think the thinking behind this would be the lack of room...with the twins and the farther along you get, the more difficult it is to see certain things that you could more easily view with just one baby.

I found out Jonas was a boy at 15 weeks and Lucas at 18 weeks. I found out a girl this time at 19 weeks (tentatively at 16 weeks).

I think I went in about 16-17 weeks because of twins. They were unable to get all of the measurements they needed because the babies were too small (even though they measured well for their gest age) but they were able to tell the genders (2 Boys). If they can't get all the measurements they will either do them next time or have you come back in a couple of weeks and then you will get to see the babies sooner and they can double check the genders. We have had soooo many ultrasounds now (I am 32 + weeks) we are positive that we are having boys. I had to tell my mom to stop asking after the 6th month or so because we saw them as boys everytime but she kept thinking that they could've made a mistake!!

I found out it was two boys at like 15 weeks and a few days. We found out we were having twins at like 14 15 weeks so they sent us right to the specialist for a higher level u/s.

The genders should be visible if they get the money shot!

At only 17wks, they still might be too small and the necessary body parts (heart, etc) undeveloped enough to get all the measurements they need but if that's the case they can have you back in a few weeks. Then you can see your babies again! :)

My doc said not to go in for this u/s before 20 weeks and the tech was very pleased to hear that. Before 20 weeks is often not possible to take a good look at all the vital body parts including heart so you may end up going again. That's not necessarily a bad thing but why if not necessary and it can easily be avoided.

I had my first level 2 at 13 weeks. It was my first appt w/ my Peri so it's standard to figure everything out for their records. (Dates, size) And yes at my 13 week, level 2, I found out they were boys so at 17 FOR SURE you'll find out!

    Congrats!!

I found out the genders at 16 weeks. And have been having level II u/s since 5 weeks. So you should be able to see as long as they cooperate. My boy was a little shy at first but when the Dr came in and said he thought it was 2 girls the boy stuck his out for all to clearly see. He didn't like being called a girl at all. And at every u/s since, he shows off.

    Good Luck and enjoy it!!
