It depends on the bottles. For the most part you switch to the level 2 at 3 months and the level 3 at 6 months

for ours -Playtex drop-ins, there were only level one and two- never saw a level three??? but, we switched at almost 4 months- and it took them a full week of getting used to the faster flow! It was messy for a bit- as they took in more than they could swallow for a while. When they got the hang of it... feeding time went much faster!

I switched when they were working too hard and slowly to get the liquid out. I just tried it when the urge hit me. When you get tired of 45 min. feedings [IMG]

It depends on the baby..not the bottle. Our daughters have used level 2 with cuts in it because of how our babies suck. My nephew uses 2 and he is two weeks old.

We switched at 5 months. Our son Wyatt would spend the same amount of time eating regardless of the amount he ate -- so we decided that we'd try and get more food in him in the same amount of time.

He just doesn't have to work so hard for the food and it has made his eating more efficient.

    Amen to that!

We switched to 2s at 4 months..then to 3s at 7 months. If you think they're ready just give it a whirl (don't worry about the age listed on the package). If they aren't ready you'll know: they'll gag b/c the flow is too fast and you can tuck them away and try again in a month.

We actually had to switch to level 2's at a week old. Both girls were taking almost 2 hours to take 2 ounces. It was pure madness. So on a whim we tried moving them up and it worked! Now they suck it down in 20-30 minutes without a problem. It sure was a lifesaver for me!
