let's talk..

do you ever put your kids in the cart or store stroller? I have been using my stroller but yesterday I was out and about and did not plan on shopping BUT that darn van of mine took me to Kohls, opened it's door and pushed me out !I tried to tell dh it was time to replace the thing but :unknw: ?
anyway...
Since I was kidnapped I did not have my stroller so I put the girls in the store stroller - when we left I felt kinda bad about it - but then I felt like a paranoid worry wart - my dad is a BAD paranoid person about germs and I DO NOT want to be like him ! :crazy:

Do you guys use the shopping carts or store strollers?

 

I used to use the strollers, sometimes still do but I wipe them down with Wet Ones first. Never mind the germs, there's gross stuff on them lol... in a pinch when I got kicked out of the car at a store I just use the cart!

 

Hmmm, I think I fall inbetween. I keep a canister of those antibacterial wipes in the car. Before I put them in it I totally wipe down everywhere I think they might touch. I get some weird looks, but I feel better about putting them in the cart. I usually use the stroller unless I need to get more things than will fit in the handheld basket. When they were really little we used those fabric insert things.

 

I got a stroller from the mall a few weeks ago (our regular stroller stunk like puke thanks to DS) and I put them in shopping carts all the time...I just figure if they're going to get sick - they're going to get sick...and for all the times I've been using "public" things my kids get a cold every 6 months (almost on the nose!)

 

I always use store carts/strollers when possible as they are designed to carry the kids and bought items. i will even put one in the cart and one in the top of the cart if they don't have double carts...and I just put the "easier" one in the cart to try and avoid all the items being thrown back out

 

We went to BJs wholesale and for the first time the girls rode in the cart (since if I put the big stroller in the back of my car we wouldn't have any room for the food!). This is the only store around here that has double seats up by the handle. First I sprayed it down with Clorox anywhere and wiped it down with wipes. Then I put blankets around the girls because they seemed so small in there. I'm NOT a germophobe at all, but shopping carts skeeve me.

 

i do use them, but not all the time....i do still use my stroller if i'm not getting a lot of things. i do wipe down anything i think they might touch. it is so hard because you don't want them to get sick, but you don't want to live in a bubble either

 

I used the carts as soon as mine could sit up. Never wiped them down or otherwise fussed about germs either. I know you read all these scary things about shopping carts, but I never had any problems, either.

Yes, everytime. I also do not wipe them off first. Germs are good, your kids need the little germs! They will survive!

 

We use the double shopping carts all the time. Our grocery store actually has antibacterial wipes at the cart pick-up areas, but I also carry some with me and I do wipe the handles down first. I occasionally forget, but in the winter I am extra cautious!

Me too. It never crossed my mind to bring their stroller into a store (outside of a mall, of course).

 

I usually use the carts. Today we used the cool one with a car in front for the kids to drive. They have antibacterial wipes at Jewel, so I wiped it down before I put the kids in. I don't always wipe the carts down, but it was kind of gross, so I gave it a good cleaning!

I always use our shopping cart cover- we have a double one for costco and the floppy seats for other times and restaurants stored in the trunk!

 

We use the carts as well, but i mad a slimple handle cover for the buggy handles.... it's not the full seat cover but my gals usually have their hand and they try for there mouths on the handle you use to push..... It is just a simple little round thing that velcros together I have to fit the Kroger double buggies and two to fit the Walmart buggies.....


Which reminds me, our Wal-mart and Sam's are next door to each other, well if I want to go shopping alone, I can't because Wal-mart isn't very convienient..... they have the big kid double seaters but My gals aren't big enough, and it is so hard to push a loaded down buggie and a stroller or even another buggy....

My husband isn't home alot so he managed to make where when we get to walmart someone from customer service walks over and gets us a double buggy!!!! I felt bad at first, but Walmart is about the only place we can get everything without completley breaking our budget........ It makes shopping soooo much easier!! Sorry not trying to hijack just reminded me....

 

my only pet peeve with store strollers or shopping carts is that they often don't have the buckles working. the latches are usually partially broken, so it's hard to make them sit still thru the whole store and not get out and terrorize me LOL. the germy part does bother me, but i figure they're going to get germs somewhere and that's what white blood cells and clorox wipes are for. i love the stores which have those wipes available for cleaning the kiddie part. I agree with PP that walmart buggies are cumbersome and hard to steer in a crowded store. when other ppl have their regular shopping carts in the aisle these twin buggies that are hard to steer make it almost impossible to keep trucking through.

Ditto. I use them all the time.

 

I use the shopping carts when I can because they fit better in their respective stores. My guys have been mostly healthy since their birthday but I could just be lucky. :blush:

 

I use the store cart but use sanitizer wipes when they're available. If I don't have the wipes, I wash their hands after we get finished. However, I have taken my girls with me to the store often and they haven't been really sick but twice. They have only had a few colds as well.

 

Unless they have any health issues - it's actually kind of good to expose them to germs! So we use the store cart - and are no worse for the wear - a cold here and there. Pukey bug maybe once a year of that (although I just had it Friday night :bad: )

as someone said - you can't live life in a bubble!

Same here! :good: I never really thought of wiping them down first. :blush:

 

I must say that I, too, NEVER wipe down the shopping cart before I put the girls in! I guess I am just lazy! We always put them in the shopping carts at Target and the grocery store - DH gets one and I get one (unless I take them by myself, then I bring the stroller)....

But I LOVE BJ's b/c their shopping cart has room for two to sit in it!
