I am 22 weeks preggie with ID boys sharing a placenta. I have had no complications thus far and no signs of TTTS. The placenta is anterior and rather large but for the past 3-4 weeks I have been feeling the babies moving around fairly regularly and pretty strong. I was at the OB last Wednesday and they were both head down so I had been feeling one baby on each side for the most part (past 2 weeks or so) and I really felt like I could keep track of who was who. Yesterday morning I was very busy and didn't lay down until the late afternoon. It was at that time that I realized that I hadn't felt the boys moving like they regularly do. I ate, drank water, drank a coke, laid on my left side and all I got was a few swishes and a nudge here and there (they are usually quite the acrobats) and most of the movements are now on one side. That is how it has been ever since. I am feeling movements but they are just not the same as in the past. Should I call the doc? I figured I would ask you ladies if you experienced anything similar. I am hoping that they just moved to new positions or something. How could you tell who was who before they were "settled" so to speak? Thanks.

I had times of less movement with the girls - I think they change positions and it is harder to feel them like if they are facing your back. My best advice would be to tell you to call your doctor -- it never hurts to be safe - PLUS you may get a u/s and getting to see your babies is ALWAYS good!! I learned with my twin pregnancy - if their is any hint of worry in your mind - just call!! they will set your mind at ease and that is priceless!!

    CONGRATULATIONS on your boys!!!!!! YAY!!!!

You should always call the doctor if it will make you feel better. I am now 36.5 weeks and have definately had simalar experiences from time to time when I wont feel them as much. For me, baby B was settled back more sort of behind A and I would not feel him much at all. For me, it has come and gone.

Our minds certainly mess with us. There were several times all of my babes wouldn't move as much and I panicked to just find out there were perfect. Call the doc, you need to set your mind at ease.

I also had periods of less movement with my boys (who were also mono/di), I would have a few days where the movement wouldn't be as pronounced. I never called but then I'd tell my OB at my next appt and she'd tell me that I should have called- to be safe. I wasn't sure if it was because they switched positions but I would call your ob if you're worried- that's what they're there for! And congratulations on boys! They're great (obviously not biased at all!) :)

If you're worried about it - go in and get it checked. We had TTTS, and the fear with less movement is that maybe one baby has less fluid than the other and has no place to move around. The other one could have all the fluid, and therefore you wouldn't feel the kicks as much.

I also had an anterior placenta and I still felt them well - one more than the other (one is STILL more active than the other!).

If I were you, I'd go in and get it checked, when was the last time you saw them? Better safe than sorry, especially with mo/di - I would call - and not just for dopplers, make sure they do an u/s and make sure they both have ok fluid! Tell them you're worried about TTTS! Just a doppler on the outside won't tell you that!

Then again, it could just be that they've moved and you don't feel them as much, or one is more active than the other, but you never know.

    Hugs,
    Jenny

I have an anterior placenta with baby A and I feel only slight movements from the baby. There are periods and days when I don't feel it at all or only one or 2 movements a day. I asked my peri about it at one of my appointments and he said not to worry about it. Also, that early on the babies will move around a lot so it could be that both babies are on one side. That's what I realized with one of my ultrasounds.

Thanks ladies. I just called and they told me to come into L&D so that kind of freaked me out. I will update you when I get back.

So I went in and they watched the babies by u/s for a while and they were both moving, I just couldn't feel it!! The OB said that now they are getting bigger the placenta probably shields a lot so whereas they could go above it or below it before, now they cannot. Thanks for the advice, I feel a lot better since I went in. Thanks for the support.

I'm so glad both are ok - better to make sure all is ok rather than have something come up quickly. And, to your other question, I remember our fluid levels fluctuating a lot - the more important thing is that they are between 2 and 8 or 10. Mine were always closer to two, and at one point, one of them was 0 (not good). And if one has consistently more than the other, they could watch for trends toward TTTS. But since your guys were about the same, that's a great sign. You should breathe a sigh of relief!
