So DS seems to be getting his chubby little leg caught in the crib a lot lately. I dont know what to do. Each time either DH or I have to go rescue him. If it happens at the back of the crib, my short body cannot even reach him.

We do not have bumpers on because of SIDS and climbing. is it time to put them back on?

On a cute note. Today it happened at the end of the crib he shares with DD and I went in to rescue him and she was trying to help him. It was so sweet, I cried. Such a sweet little girl.

    Thanks guys!

If you are worried about SIDS you can get the breathable bumpers, but at this age with them being so mobile I think it would be okay to just use the ones you already have, or you can just wait it out, it won't be long until he can figure out how to get his own leg unstuck!

Jackson has been doing that, and he's a rather neurotic kid who panics rather easily (love him dearly, but it's true...), so I ordered a Crib Shield from the company that makes breathable bumpers. I'm hoping it helps alleviate that issue so I don't have to worry about him getting hurt or even just freaking out.

Sleep sacks help with that :)

Sleep sacks are such a big NO in this house. They pretty much HATE them..... DD will cry for hours if you put it on and DS is not a whole lot better. :)

I also agree that with the Breathable Bumper suggestion! We have them, and they are wonderful! I got them at BRU and I think they were about $24 each. I also agree that the sleep sacks did nothing to prevent the limps from slipping through.

The newer version of the crib tents have mesh all the way down the side, so legs can't get stuck and toys can't be thrown out. David would got his leg stuck several times and the cries where just heart breaking - the crib tent was stopped that and once they started climbing the tents kept toe boys in their beds.

Do crib tents work on sleigh style cribs? Someone told me they do not. I think that would be a good solution for us.

I thought about the breathable bumpers but it seems such a shame to spend that much money when they will be out of cribs soon enough. We will be moving to toddler beds when the tallest one reaches 36" as any height over that is considered unsafe. DS was 32 at his 9 month check up and just had another growth spurt. We are hoping to make it to 18 months in cribs.

    Thanks for the ideas!

Wow, Thomas is a tall boy!

We have our bumpers on & the boys do just fine. They've been on since before they were even born! I, personally, wouldn't spend money on the breathable bumpers, especially if you'll be out of cribs so soon.

And sweet Elizabeth being a good sister....what a nice girl!

Sometimes it is hard for me to believe he has grown so much. At birth he was 17.5" and she was 16 3/4" And they were 37 weekers. Right now our crib is as low as it goes and his arm pits are above the railing.
