Leaving kids with relatives

DH and I are going on vacation and the kiddos are staying with the grandparents. Does anyone know what kind of documentation I should leave behind just in case or where I can research this? I know when my brother went on a trip and I watched my nephew I asked him to leave me a letter stating I was authorized to seek medical attention or something along those lines.

 

We just went on a week long cruise in May and I called the ped's office to see what I would need in order for their care giver to take them. They said I need a letter from me that was signed and had the care givers name and my signature. I actually took it into the office and had a copy put in each of the kids files just in case. I also made sure that my friend had copies just in case.
I also made sure to make copies of their health cards for me but to keep the originals with them.

Definitely leave their insurance cards. I would also put on an index card any pertinent medical history (including their delivery history), allergies to meds, etc in the rare case they would have to take a child to the ER and answer health history questions.

 

I agree with PP's...when DH and I went to the Florida when the twins were 4 months old, we left their little baby medical books with my parents (since they live an hour away and if they needed to take them to a doctor, it would be a doc in their local area), a copy of the medical cards and also a letter signed by DH and I stating that my parents had the right to make medical decisions for our children on our behalf while we were away. I also had it notorized (in retrospect, probably not necessary).
