While I know it is early, I have started thinking about possible Christmas ideas for the kids. I was looking at the learning systems like the Leapser, MobiGo, Fisher Price iXL (I think that is the right name) and stuff like that. Does anyone have any recomendations and feedback on any of these systems? Are they worth the money? Is there a better option out there? I am thinking they would be great for car rides (we visit my parents out of state a lot). Thanks for any tips!

my son LOVES his Leapster 2...they have a "learning path" system that you can hook it up to your computer and download what your child is doing on the games and print them certificates and coloring pages...he'd play it 24 hours a day if I'd let him! So far he's up to a 1st and 2nd grade reading level and 1st grade math level and he's 4 and a half....

My 2 youngest have Leaspsters and love them! We got some games from our neighbor that are too old for them, but they love to play them anyway, along with the many age appropriate games they own. Ellie got hers just before she turned 4. It was a perfect age to start.

We're already looking into this too. Leapster Explorer which has a touch screen is what we're really leaning towards for the girls. They love to play with my Ipod, so we thought this would be a really good purchase for them.

We are BIG Leap Frog fans here. We bought Leapsters and a V-smile when my older two were young. The V-smile cartridges haven't lasted very well, neither did the system. The Leapsters did last. We have had a few problems with the cartridges, but some of that is use. My older sons still play with their Leap Frog Diji's that are for older children. We did have to replace the product recently. The new Explorer seems very nice.

My kids got Leapsters last year for Christmas & they love them. One word of caution, though: when you 1st plug them into the computer you can download a free game from the internet. Once you do that, you can't change the game! Well, Grandma downloaded them for us and picked 2 different games....now they've decided they both like the "chicken game" on DS's Leapster, so they always fight over who gets it. Looking back, I wish we'd put the same game on both of them.

    Awesome for car rides, btw.
