Leapster Explorer or Leapster 2

Which is better, and why?

We have the Leapster 2, I think the Explorer has a more clear display - it is the newer model.

 

I have both the leapster 2 and the leapster explorer. They will probably stop making games for the leapster 2 in the next year or so. That said I'm getting the girls the new leappads which play the explorer games for their bday and will sell the explorers. My girls play with the explorers more than the leapsters

 

We were going to get the Leapster explorers this year for birthdays. However, after learning about the leap pads, we changed our minds and leap pads have been pre-ordered. They will be a couple weeks late for their birthday... but, I am ok with that because they look so darn neat!

 

I'd wait for the leappad's too, we're going to get the twins each one and possibly one for our other dd, who will turn 5 in sept

 

Getting leappads as well, I'm just hoping that there will be some sales on them in the next 10 months!

 

Thanks everyone! The leappads do look really cool, but I can't see spending that much. (My husband and I don't even have the latest and greatest stuff like that!) I was going to wait awhile to get a gaming system like this, but I'm breaking down because I think it might be helpful to have something like it for our vacation next month. Last year's trip was horrendous, and I brought anything and everything I could think of to entertain them in the car and they were hardly interested in any of it. This year I'm packing a few small things and will hope for the best! I was hoping the new leappad would at least bring the cost of the explorer down, but so far it doesn't look like it.

 

We have the explorers and the girls love them. However, those leap pads look pretty neat.

 

We have the original leapster 2 I think it's called, and it's gone thru my oldest (he got it at age 2-3 I think), and now my dd (who is about to turn 5). It's still a great investment and has lasted a long time! The only reason I'm springing for the leappads this fall is because I'll need to get 2 of something anyways, and since we already have a leapster I might as well get something different
