Luke & Lila just turned 3 and I was thinking about getting the Leapfrog Tag for them for Christmas. The junior one say for ages 2-4 and the regular one says 4-8, I'm leaning toward the older one since by Christmas they will already be well on their way to 4. Do any of you have them? Would the junior one be better for them? I just don't want to spend the money & have them outgrow them right away.

Tina, I am anxious to see what you hear. I was thinking about the same thing for L&M

I just bought my 2 yr olds the regular Tag. The book selection is better and if your kids point to words or letters in books, the 4-7 one will be perfect for them. We haven't opened it yet, since they got so much for their bday, but I'm thinking we're going to need another one. One just isn't going to be easy to share. They have a purple one at Walmart that comes with books. :)

We got the Tag for the girls at age 3y 2m and they LOVED it. They still love it---they are getting more books for Xmas. It is GREAT for Dr visits, car trips, and quiet play. We have the carry case and it makes it much easier to keep track of the books.....there are usually coupons on the leapfrog website!!

I bought the 4-7 for my girls with the cat in the hat book(holds more books). I would buy it for a 3 year old though. We bought the girls leapsters for christmas last year and they were able to start playing with them and are now mastering more of the games

I agree with the others, get the regular Tag for 4-7. Our kids got it last Christmas and they really love it.

My kids got the regular Tag right after they turned 4 and never had a problem with it. I can't say enough good things about it! My kids really love it. We got it in a "bundle", which meant it came with the plastic carry case and the headphones. Definitely check the Leapfrog website for coupons - I had some I used just last week for the books for Christmas - $3 off. And I think there was a $10 off coupon for the Tag system out there a few weeks ago.

Get the "older" tag reader. My two have it and Love it. We go through sprees where they use it nonstop. But for the longest time we only had one and it was so neat that they would lay on the floor together and work out the games. We got it when they were four though.
But I think there is more longevity to the regular one.

I'm so glad you post this....a while back I thought about it and wasn't sure if they were ready. And now I am ready to buy the TAG (4-7) for their xmas present. The twins' just recently turned '3'. In the last couple month or so, my twins' has mastered the laptop/mouse because they play a lot of games on it. We do have 2 of the F/P laptop but they seem to like the 'real games' and use Daddy's laptop for it. I even think they'll be ready to play those leapsters games too but hubby says, No. I guess we'll wait for that for next year and get them into book reading.

Thanks for getting me motivated to buy them!
