So my MIL starts Christmas shopping very early, and she is already asking me for ideas. My boys LOVE books, so I'm wondering about the LeapFrog Tag Junior.

    http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Tag-Junior-Book-Pal/dp/B001U5R1Y2/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IYK7OVTPFZT4J&colid=3SKOA1L9D4R2C

Also, I think they are too young for a LeapPad yet, right?? (they will be 2 three days after Christmas)

Also, does anyone get the Highlights High 5 magazine - it is worth getting? It's supposed to be for starting at age 2, I think.

My oldest got the Tag Junior for his 3rd birthday, he loves it. THis yr I am going to get him the Tag system for his birthday and the twins will get the JUnior. They'll be just under 2 when they get it. The only thing I would worry about is that the books are board books, so you would have to watch they dont eat them, which is an issue with my boys right now, but I am hoping by 2 it wont be as much of one.

Yes, Gabriel especially still likes to chew on books. I'm hoping we will be past that by Christmas when they are turning 2, but I guess time will tell! Thanks for the input.

You are welcome. It's a very neat system, it does more then read to them. There are activities with each book, so it teaches stuff like sharing, numbers, colours etc.

My kids love the Tag Jr. system. We got it for them for their 2nd birthday. The only problem is that we got one, rather then two, so they do fight over it frequently but I just make them take turns with it.
I also have a subscription to the Highlights High 5 Magazine. My kids like to read the stories in there and do the find the item picture thing they have but I don't think I'll be renewing my subscription. I think they might get more enjoyment out of Highlights when they are older.

My girls got tag jr's when they were 2 1/2 and they still play with them at 4! They each have their own and you can program it to say their names when it turns on.

We don't have the Tag Junior or LeapPad, but we did get the boys LeapTops for their 2nd birthday. Honestly, they don't play with them too much, so I should have saved my money. :pardon:

We also got them High 5 magazine for their 2nd birthday, and they really like it! I think they're still (at over 2.5) a little young to entirely appreciate all of the features (especially the games at the back), but we all look forward to it coming in the mail each month, and enjoy reading it. They particularly like The Adventures of Spot and the Hidden Pictures.

    Hope this helps! :)

Thanks everyone who has responded...I think we will definitely put the Tag Junior on their Christmas list, and maybe the magazine, too. It's good to have some ideas so we don't just get random gifts!

My MIL got mine the high 5 magazine and they like it. Again, they are too young for everything but they love the pictures and stories and I save them so that when they are older they can do the more advanced activities
