For those of you who have leap pads, what is the youngest you would get them for? I am trying to decide if we buy it for Christmas or their birthday when they are 4. They are both adept at the kindle, as long as I open the screen for them so I was thinking a leap pad would be fine.

It's not an operation issue it's a frustration level issue. I'd wait till they are 4. Mine had too many issues with the games being too hard before that

    Ditto.

We got them for Christmas last year, right after they turned 4. There was a lot of frustration on their part and because of that, they rarely play with them. Some of it was because of the pen. They would have a small part of their hand resting on the screen, so then the pen wouldn't do what they were trying to do. And for the games that use the A/B controls, they got frustrated because their hands were too small to reach everything comfortably.

Good to know. I broke out the Leapster for Jacob who is more into games and he seemed frustrated. I didn't know if the Leap Pad offered easier games/things to do.

I bought mobigos for my kids and they got them a bit after 3. It went fine. They still get frustrated on the more complicated games though, but the mobigo is targeted for kids 3+. I believe it's the 'easiest' system out there.

We have mobigos and Leap Pads and my kids prefer the Mobi Gos to the leap pads. I totally agree about the frustration level. My kids like to play Pet Pals game and get frustrated when they run out of treats and stuff and have to wait the next day to sync the computer for more.

We got our kids the Innotab a few months ago for their first airplane trip, they were 4.5 at the time. They LOVE them, and I didn't expect that. They don't go more than a couple days without playing them now. Weird thing is they totally taught themselves everything, don't ask me how. I don't even really know how to use it, they have to show me! But I think it was a good buy.
