Does anyone stay caught up on laundry? If so, what are your secrets? It seems like I am always washing or folding clothes.

I wish I could help. Laundry never ends. I have been doing a load of baby clothes every day, which helps, so that I don't have a ton of laundry un-done. Good luck.

I seem to stay more caught up on baby laundry than I do mine and my husband's. Theirs just seems to be so much easier. Glad we have plenty of undies!

Not to rub it in but i do stay pretty much caught up. I do 2-3 loads every other day, start it before lunch so the 2 load is in the washer start folding as soon as they go down for a nap and then just fold fold fold. we have a 3 bag organizer and when the bag gets full i run a load.

I don't have a washer, but my building has a laundry room. DH drops our clothes off at the Fluff-n-Fold (For $1.25 per pound it's worth it to me)
I do the babies stuff in the laundry room and usually fold it while they're playing in their play gym. I do a load every 2 - 3 days or so. Their stuff is so small one load is practically everything they own [IMG]

Here are a few tips to help you with the laundry:

Unwad and sort things into piles/baskets as it comes off. That way, when you get a chance you can start a load w/o having to think about it.

Presoak stained clothes in a bucket with some stain fighter so you don't have to worry about stopping and spraying, or looking for stains.

Folding is a pain in the buttocks. So instead of folding all the onsies, pjs, you know the everyday stuff that nobody but you sees. I just sort them in a bin right out of the dryer and store them on the changing table shelves, saves time putting clothes away too.

And I have a Woolite delicate garmet bag that is mesh with a zipper, I put all the socks and small stuff in there, and again, instead of taking time to match all the little socks, I just throw them in their assigned bin and when I want something, I just shake it until two matching socks appear, takes all of about three seconds.

And it just occured to me... these don't really work unless you have 2 of the same gender. Ha ha ha. Well, you could modify these to make them work for you.

I manage to stay pretty caught up on laundry I do laundry on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sunday's each time I do 3 loads. I work from home so I can do it during work hours. It makes it easy!

Mine are twins are 2 1/2 and my older sone is 8.... I'm pretty sure the laundry doesn't get a lot better. Mine is slightly better now.... not as may blankets, burp cloths etc. , but I think laundry for 5 people is just a full time job. I have a friend with triplets and her husn=band always teases me about laundy being the "vain of my existance"

I so know what you're talking about, I have laundry coming out of the wazzoo. I never seem to catch up on it, considering the girls go through at least 2 outfits a day if not more, than their blankets and sheets. I've never seen so much laundry.

I always do one load of the babies laundry a day...this way i stay caught up on it and it all fits into the washer/dryer...i never separate colors and white for the babies!!! i know that is bad, but I haven't had any problems yet...I just throw all of it in together.

I'm surprised, because I thought there would be a LOT more laundry with the babies than what we've actually had. I bet I do two loads for them a week. That's not too bad. They use jammies two nights in a row, one big towel between them that's changed every other bath (more than we change our own towels!), 6-8 bibs per day and generally one outfit per day.

KrazyKat, those were some great ideas. I'm never folding PJs again! Thanks!

The only thing I do that helps a bit is I keep several laundry bags/hampers and sort colors and whites as we take our clothes off. Then when we need a load I just grab the bag and wash. I found these great bags at walmart: they come all folded up like those car window shades. You unfold and they "pop" up and stand. They have handles so they're easy to carry. Only $4 so I have several.

Oh, also I keep the spray and wash next to the hampers so I can spray stains as I throw them in and don't have to look for them later when I'm doing the wash.

Those are great ideas ladies! I really liked the idea of not folding PJ, sort by color as you take them off and spray the stains before you put the clothes in the hamper. Thanks Again! [IMG]

I can stay caught up on the washing, but there is always a basket or two that needs folding! Plus, I have given up on the socks. We now just have a sock and undies basket and we sock dive in the mornings!

I start a load as soon as I start my coffee. It's working so far, but we are only two adults and one child.

I also spray stains as they go into the hamper.

I stay pretty caught up. I usually do laundry once a week. We have a family of 5. During the week, before putting clothes into the hamper, I spray them with shout for stains. Then, usually on Saturdays, I dump all the clothes on my bedroom floor in piles, usually 5 or 6 loads, including blankets. Then I do the loads, setting the timer in the kitchen so I don't get busy and forget. When they're done, I dump the clean clothes on my bed. I fold them all at once when all the loads are done. I hang everything, onesies, everything and it doesn't really take me a lot of time. I spend maybe 30 minutes folding clothes per week. I have dividers hanging in the babies closets, separating sizes. It works really well for me.

Oh, and the socks... I put the socks together as I throw them into the hamper. That way they go into the same load. I create a pile of socks from all the loads and save them for last. Then I match them. I never end up missing any socks.
