DS has been rolling over for what seems like forever now. He is all over the place. Cant keep him in one place.
DD ont he other hand is still content laying on her back or her tummy. She does the swim and looks like she is thinking about crawling.
She still does not rolll over on her own. If you give her leg a nudge, she moves to her side and will sometimes roll over that way, but never w/out a nudge.
Dr told us that some babies just dont care about rolling over and said that she has the muscle strength just probably not the interest.
I know I know I am not supposed to compare.
But that is easier said then done.
I dont want to be a pushy mom, but I am beginning to worry.
Anyone else have a late roller???

OOOH Yeah. DS was sitting up on his own long before he would roll, actually! i think it was because he was hardly ever laying flat when he was really little because of reflux. it would take him forever to eat, then he'd have to stay relatively upright for another 20-30 mins., then there was only another 20 mins. or so before it was time to eat again! so he never really got to practice, but he was good at beign upright! i don't think he started rollign until close to 7 months. DD was right around 6 months. we just kept showing him interesting toys and then putting them over to his side and somewhat higher than his head, so he would have to kind of twist to see it, which would initiate the position for rolling. just keep working with him. he's still in a normal range. you do have to remember that they are not identical, they are like any other set of siblings (jsut born on the same day!), so they will do things in their own time.
don't worry- theywill be crawling then walking before you know it. enjoy the "non mobile" stage while you can!!!!

One of my girls rolls all over and one rolls maybe once a week. She just isn't interested. My doctor said not to worry. :)

My James started rolling 3 weeks ago at 6.5 months. He can go from back to front but not the other way around. Evan rolled over a few times last week (back to front). He seemed pleased with himself and smiled at me as if to say "See, I can do it." and that's the last we've seen of him rolling! I'm not worried. They're starting to sit and I think they're developing fine.

My girls were way over 7 months before they started and even then it was here and there. I would say Lauren got real good at it at eight months and Emma was after that. It took mine a while too. It is distressing, but if the pedi said not to worry, I wouldn't either. :hug99:

I don't think rolling over is as much of a milestone as we make it out to be. I think a lot just depends on what your child has an interest in, how motivated they are, etc. DD1 rolled over at 12 weeks, but then she really didn't get into it much. It was kind of like it just happened by accident sometimes. She was content to just be on her tummy and play. But then she just wanted to GO places...she crawled at 7 months which is pretty normal (I think) and started walking at 9 months. Obviously, her disinterest in rolling wasn't impeding her physical abilities.

Now, with the twins they have both rolled over but one rolls over both ways while the other only one way. I think she could go the other way...she just doesn't want to. :)

    Don't worry!

If this helps Paige had no interest in rolling either. Alexandra on the other hand was all over the place. That said, Paige sat better and started crawling first at around 8 months, Ali followed within days since. At 9 months I had to turn her over in her crib to sleep on her belly and then she would wake a few hours later to be turned over again, this went on for a few months. She just had no interest in rolling over. I think she finally actively started rolling over on her own around 15 months. Even now at almost 27 months she will lay on her back short ways in her crib and yell stuck till I tell her to turn over and she won't be stuck anymore. Her doctor was never worried about it either.

Just in the past 2 weeks have mine rolled from belly to back. They don't have much interest in it though and they still look surprised when they do it. I was really stressing over it although I knew they had the ability. Now I am trying not to worry so much although they still roll maybe once a day. Now I am focusing more on sitting up since that seems to be a bigger milestone.

I wonder if it's a girl thing! My DS is all over the place too, and DD doesn't care. She rolls back to tummy, but can't be bothered to roll tummy to back, even when she's tired of tummy time.
