The hockey program does a fun skating lessons program here in the schools in the fall. This is our 3rd week of school. Last week, the twins each brought home permission/registration sheets for this. We did it last year. I think they came home on the bus on Thursday. I filled them out but then life got the best of me. Yesterday I looked at them to see when they start and they started this past Saturday. :shok: What? 2 days notice?? :shok: So, they've already missed TWO of the lessons (Sat/Sun). It is $30 per kid and there are 8 more lessons I think.
Do I register or skip? I don't know. It ticks me off that we had a 2 day notice. Part of it is my fault, I didn't look to see when it started, so I was not on the ball. Is this the case with activities in your neck of the woods too?

With 8 lessons left I would get my form in as soon as possible, if it was something my kid really wanted to do.

This happened to us, too. Only we got the notice AFTER the event. We get a newsletter via email for homeschoolers in our area and in the August newsletter there was an invitation to an open house for a Boy Scout den. Only the open house happened two days BEFORE the newsletter was sent out. Thankfully, I was able to still sign him up. But, I had to meet with the leader by myself and I know I didn't get as in-depth information as everyone else.

I've been in charge of stuff before and I know that, just like what happened to you, life can get in the way and you forget to send things out or something. But, it is really frustrating for everyone involved. I try not to get upset because I know it is something I could easily do. It also makes me more aware the next time I am in charge of stuff.

I agree that, if you still want them to be involved, fill out the form right away and call any numbers they might have given you to speak to someone directly. With my kids, it is something I'd try not to mention to them until I knew it was even still possible to join.

YES ! This is one of my pet peeves with our school. I get the flyer and the event is literally hours away ... I get SO annoyed.
I might still do it since there are still 8 lessons .. but like the others said .. I'd make a phone call if possible to make sure you can still register them.

I would still sign them up. We had signups this weekend for baseball, which starts in April, the forms came home sometime last week.
