the boys have been in their cribs for about a month now. generally they last until about 6 and then we pull them into bed with us. sometimes they last in their cribs until 8 or 10 or so and its great.

HOWEVER, last night they were up about every half hour or so! moving around, tossing, turning...it was the worst. we got no sleep, whatsoever.
we brought them into bed with us and the LO with reflux tossed his head and grunted ALL NIGHT. the other LO moaned and then finally fell asleep. any advice as to WHY this happenend out of nowhere? the night routine was the same. dinner (formula and cereal), bath and then dreamfeed around 9:00.

No advice. Just that there are some bad nights mixed in with the good.

i wasn't sure if the LO with reflux needs his meds adjusted. he's been on the same dosage since he was 8 weeks old! doesn't it go by weight?

the other LO scratches himself like he's in an angry fit of rage!

They were just wiggling in their cribs so you brought them in bed with you? I have my girls in a room away from me, b/c I am hypersensitive to their noises and if they are near me then I'm wide awake every time one of them stirs in her sleep. If they weren't crying then I would try to resist the urge to go get them!

Depends on the medication. The Zantac is weight sensitive, but I dont think there has been time for a significant weight gain to affect the med. The Prevacid has a large weight range for its dose. I would call your Ped if you are concerned that its a reflux flare up.

weren't just wiggling - they were moaning and groaning and doing this light cry. we tried to just give them their paci's but it didn't work. it was like every 30 mins so we decided to just bring them to bed so we could get some rest. that backfired, too!

If it was just moaning and groaning and a light cry I would have left them in their crib. Going in to get them like that will only help establish that habit, IMO. Like you said, they didn't sleep any better in bed with you so I would just remember that the next time it happens and try to resist picking them up. There are always going to be good nights mixed in with bad nights.

Oh...sounds like the 4 month sleep regression. We went through that. The good news is is it doesn't last for long. Just keep up their routine and things will smooth themselves out. Hopefully it won't take too long.

No real advice from me either but  . Even babies who sleep well will have nights where they will be up. Sometimes we will never know the reason. Could they be teething?

If mine start getting restless and noisy I usually turn the monitor off for a little bit and let them work it out. That way, if they fully wake up and cry I will still hear it but I don't respond to their every noise. My DD will grunt a lot if she hasn't pooped in a day or two and no amount of comfort from me helps, I just have to let her go. My DS has reflux but if his reflux flares it's the ear-piercing scream, not just whining. You probably have to wait a few days and see if there is a pattern before deciding that. The best thing you can do is try to make sure they get their naps in today and hope for a better night tonight. Then, maybe try to resist the temptation to go in there for every noise because sometimes seeing you in the middle of the night is stimulation and makes it harder for them to fall back asleep. Good luck and let yourself get some rest. :)

Do they roll over? They might be getting ready to do something developmental as well?! or it might have just been an "off" night. I too would try to resist going and getting them unless they are full blown crying! Good luck! Hope tonight is better!
