I went to the OB today and apparently I'm 3 cm dilated and about 80% effaced!! :) He said I would most likely go within the next 2 weeks.

What I want to know is, how long were you dilated/effaced for before going into active labor?? I would like for them to stay put until 37 weeks!

i was 2cm and 90% at 34 weeks and stayed that way until they induced me at 37 weeks. my doc didn't think i'd make it past 35 weeks, so you never know!

First off...congratulations! The anticipation of having twins is so exciting. I delivered my boys at 34 wks. 2 days. I went in for a regular check-up and was 5 cm and 7cm two days later. I have 3 other children so although I was trying to take it easy I wasn't on "bedrest". In retrospect, though, I wish I took it easier!. Having 34 weekers is not bad for twins, but the longer they can stay in the "oven" the better! It would be great to avoid NICU time. So, although everybody is different, just try to take it super easy... maybe even put yourself on bedrest so you don't continue to dilate too quickly. I'm sure by now rest is what you need!

I was 1 cm dilated at 30 wks, then up to 4cm at 33 wks. I think I was 50% effaced, but I don't recall.

I made it to my scheduled csection at 37w5d. We ALL thought I'd go early (as soon as I went off bedrest & my preterm labor meds), but those boys didn't BUDGE. Apparantly if they couldn't come early, they didn't want to come at all ;).

GL with the upcoming birth of your twins! It's a truly momentous occasion!

I was dialated to a 3cm when I went to my regular OB appointment and the next day I went into labor. She said it could be with in the next two weeks. It was less than 24 hours for me. I was 36 weeks and a few days. My first born. I had to be induced at 42 weeks. He wasn't coming out without being forced to.

I was 3cm dilated at 35wks and had my membranes stripped 3x before I got induced at 37wks.

I was 2 cm at 34 weeks, stayed at 2 cm at 35 weeks, 36 weeks I was 4 cm and was starting to develop pre-e. My water broke at 36 weeks 5 days. I thought I'd be pregnant forever!

    Now I miss it sometimes!

I was 3cm, 80% effaced (if I'm remembering right) and contracting every 3 min at 32 weeks. Stopped my labor and after the hospital and strict bedrest, my water broke at 36 weeks.

I was 4cm for a couple of weeks before finally being induced. I thought for sure they would fall out of me any minute..but they never did!)

My water broke at midnight at 36 weeks and I was not dialated at all, I had them 9 hours later via c-section!

I think you are going to find from the postings that it can happen whenever - sooner or later! My suggestion would be to put yourself on bedrest and take it super easy especially if you don't have other children. While lots of ladies on here have twins at 34 weeks or earlier and have healthy babies, your babies will be better off every day you can keep them in there. Plus it will be a lot less stressful for you if they are able to come home when you do. Why not get a little extra right now anyway before the chaos (and tons of joy) begins!

    Hugs to you!

This is me too! Except mine were born 12 hours labor vaginally.

I really think everyone is different and it's hard to say how long your LOs will stay put!

I was 3 cm and 70% effaced at 33 weeks, I was taken off work, and told to "take it easy". I pretty much put myself on modified bedrest until 36 weeks, and then got out of the house here and there for my own sanity. I ended up being induced at 37 weeks 5 days (it was a pretty fast induction though, I went from 3-10 cm in 3 hours once my water broke).

I was neither dilated nor effaced when my water abruptly broke at 35 weeks exactly. The next day they were born... the docs finally had to give me pitocin to get labor going because my body just wasn't into it. Total length of time from when my water broke to when the placentas came out was 36 hours. But I can honestly say my biggest problem was that I was tired and bored. Thank goodness for epidural!

Thanks for the responses! Looks like everyone is different!! I have put myself on modified bed rest. Doctor said no need, but I really do not want them coming for at least a couple more weeks! :)

I was 2 cm dialated at 37 1/2 weeks, two hours later twin A was born :)

You just never know how things are going to end up. some bodies are slow and some move quickly

I was 4cm dilated at 30 weeks. I don't remember how much I was effaced. I delivered at 34 weeks. GL with the rest of your pg!
