I don't know how you do it. I tutor privately after my husband gets home from work. I was just trying to arrange schedules and got all confused! I give you all the credit in the world for being able to keep it together at work as well as at home. You work so hard all day long and it doesn't stop!!! Just wanted to let you know how much I admire you!

Thank you! :) I work part-time but just a few hours a week (I teach). I have a lady who comes and looks after the twins when Im out which is a BIG help!

i start work next week!! another teacher here. 4 days a week so very nervous about how it will all work out but right now im thinking a day of 100's of teenagers will be easier than a day with 2 crawling, exploring babies!!!
much harder for you to look after your babes all day and then work at night. that is hard.

(just had to add quickly, rach - we do have loads in common! my boys were born at 37+4)

Coming from the other side of the fence I have to say I really admire all of you SAHMs. I don't know how you do it. I love my kids to death, but staying at home with them full time now would drive me batty. :) I have a crazy high stress job, but it's a cakewalk compared to two whining, crying, fussy, teething, clingy, non stop always on the go kids. And despite my choice of adjectives I have GREAT babies. I can't imagine what it would be like with two actual little terrors, or even crazier with two terrors AND siblings!

Why thanks! I honestly can't imagine it being any other way! I thrive at work, and the twins thrive at daycare, and I honestly think being a SAHM would be harder for me, because I'm just not wired that way.

To the OP: I don't know how old your kids are, but by the time I went back to work full time, mine were 8 months. They were fully on a schedule, and daycare kept them on a faithful schedule as well. I pick them up at 4pm, home by 430pm, dinner between 5-530 ... if it's a bath night, bath at 6 then bed at 7pm. It gives us time to play, enjoy each other, and then DH and I still get some alone time together before we hit the hay. For sure it's hectic, and at first I was overwhelmed, but we've been in the routine for 1.5 years now, and I feel like it's second nature!

I'd like to say thankyou. I am a working mother, and I love working outside the home. I also have much respect for SAHMs b/c I know it takes a lot of patience and organization to take care of the kids and the house all day.

I think this is a great topic and Im glad there are so many positive comments. So many times Ive seen SAHMs and Working Moms arguing on talk shows about which one is better than the other and criticizing one another for their choices. Im glad we can all understand and appreciate eachothers differences and our choices in life regarding our children.

    Great Topic!!

Thanks! I work full time outside of the home. I do work in education so I have tons of vacation and summers off though. But I honestly think I would go nuts SAH fulltime. So kudos to you SAHMs as well. Although it would be nice to come home and not have to do all the house chores after kids are in bed!

Thank u so much to the OP....I agree all the way with what beemer said....I give Kudos to all u SAHM's I don't know how YOU do it....going to work is my break away from the kids. I was FT but my hours were cut back to only M-T 32hrs total a week....I miss my Fri!! LOL....I have a wonderful Nany that cares for the twins at my home & Korey's goes to Pre-K 9am-2pm M-T, at 2 I pick him up and he goes back to work with me till 5. I work 9:00-5:00pm.....usually a bit after 9am cuz I drop Korey at school.

I don't think I could ever be a SAHM....even though sometimes I do wish I could but we need the $ my income brings in. Since DH works out of town and is only home weekends, I am alone with the kids thru the week and count done the days till I can get an extra pair of hands :)
