I am full of questions this morning!

Do you have suggestions for kids music that both you and your kids like? I just took a three hour car ride to visit my parents and wanted to drive off the road after two hours of a Mickey Mouse c.d. that they love. There has to be better options.!

Here are some recent photos of the kiddos. I can't believe they will be two in two months!

    Abby ready to go out
    Parker and the whale
    Mystic Aquarium

    Thanks again!

Your kids are adorable! I have this one CD that the girls LOVE - they clap their hands and wiggle their feet every time it comes on. It's the Fisher Price "Dance baby Dance" CD. It doesn't have any words and is nursery rhymes set to techno music. It doesn't bother me at all but DH says it gives him a headache.

So cute!!! Ana has those same shoes that Abby is wearing.

As for music, we listen to my music mostly. Recently the girls have been demanding "Ballerina music" aka classical music because the sitter's daughters are in ballet and they practice when my girls are there. So I put on classical in the car and its not annoying at all!

My husband has the kids listening to all his music ... The love the beatles ... they've been listening to Soul Coughing lately ... oh, and the Beastie Boys and Weeze. Yeah, DH is out of his mind. But they tend to like it!

I think they will like anything if they hear it enough ... so we play LOTS of classic rock ... hoping that we can all enjoy our music together!

Yeah, I agree. Our boys (all 3) love The Grateful Dead, CSNY, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, etc. They love to dance around to whatever we have playing in iTunes.

The pics are great! I don't mind listening to backyardigans and the bare naked ladies snack time cd. However ANYTHING repeated for 3 hrs would drive me insane too.

They Might Be Giants has several kids CDs.

My girls also love world music, you know the mixes like Afro-Celtic, Latin Jazz, Samba-rock the more rythmic the better.

They really liked it. It was a fun day. They mostly liked running around outside and looking at the beluga whales. They didn't really care about the seals (kept calling them kitties!) or the dolphins. Inside they ran around alot and thankfully it wasn't super crowded so there was space to run. Parker tried to raid all the stollers for sippy cups and snacks and we chased him around quite a bit. We brought our stroller inside, but they really didn't use it. Wanted to explore on their own. They did like looking at the fish and really loved sticking their hands in the water tanks for the "hands on" exhibit. We will definitely go back because there is plenty to do. We opted not to watch any of the shows because I didn't think they would sit still.

I see you are in Newport...one of my favorite places. I went to college in Bristol, RI.

Thanks to everyone for the music suggestions! My kids listen to "our" music too, but there is something about kid music they tune into.

Yep in Newport. Was in Bristol the other day, my husband works up there a lot. Love it when he is there b/c he always brings home wicked awesome spinach pies.

With music, the boys also hear ours...or should I say Chad's. They go crazy when he puts on Metallica and Godsmack. Dillon was dancing so hard the other day he did a nose dive into the floor LOL

I had to laugh when I read the posts on here b/c my husband and I were driving yesterday and had the kids music playing and WE (my husband and I) were singing along tapping OUR feet bla bla bla anyway I turn around and look at the boys who didn't seem to be impressed. I told my husband they must think this is our music and hate it as much as we hated our parents music.
I have the bare naked ladies cd which is a nice break from the others. Does anyone think some of the lyrics in the abc song are bad as far as a kids cd? I can't think of any off hand but I remeber thinking that about it the whole time I listened.

Your LO's are too cute, man, just tooo cute! :D

We are also ones who let our kids pretty much listen to what we listen to. Thusly, at 8, Owen loves everything from Josh Groban and Enya to Weezer and Green Day! Hopefully the girls will follow in the same vein.

We listen to alot of Barenaked Ladies as well simply because I'm a gigantic fan (I have a crush on Steven Page!), and we also have the entire We Might Be Giants collection, as well as the Jack Johnson cd. Another good one is John Lithgow (of all people) singing all the old Danny Kaye and Cab Calloway songs-it's called "Singing in the Bathtub". (There's even one on there about twins!) We like showtunes for the kids too, and I have a couple of CD's of John Barrowman covering all those.
But some of my all time fave music to listen to with the kids is 60's and 70's folk. Peter Paul and Mary, and John Denver in particular. Wonderful social, political and environmental subject matter without being preachy. Bedtime music is Sarah McLachlan for sure though!

    Love the photos! Adorable!

I was going to ask how you liked Mystic Aquarium as well. I hope to take the boys there in April/May.

For music-I really enjoy Laurie Berkner. Her music is so catchy. I did just go out yesterday and bought They Might Be Giants 1, 2, 3.

    Good ideas ladies!

Right now they basically listen to our music but they also like Barenaked Ladies Snack Time and lullabyes. A friend sent me a link to Metallica songs put to lullabye music, so DH and I are thinking of buying that.

As far as music, the boys aren't picky at all - they actually prefer hip-hop music on the radio! It's so funny to watch them bop their little heads to the beat!

We listen to a lot of Justin Roberts, and also like the Putomayo Kids CDs (I particularly like the Reggae one).

My kids also really like the soundtrack to "Oh Brother Where Art Though" for some reason (well, I really like it too).

Oh yeah! It's soooo good. I have to admit, I'm such a BNL freak, that I bought it just cause it was them, but it's so good! In true BNL style there's alot of songs that show they really realte to kids. (they all have a whole passel of 'em and they're also all fairly immature, so that probably why! LOL!)

My girls love bluegrass. The O Brother Soundtrack is a family fav! We also have Little Mo Mcoury which is Ronnie Mccoury and his band it has songs like I've been working on the Railroad all set to bluegrass. I grew up on the sound so I love it, my girls dance in their seats the whole time it plays!
