Kids can now turn on the light in their room and it's PARTY TIME

They moved to twin beds a year ago!!! Seriously? How long does that phase last now? We had no issue whatsoever with bedtime for a year. They just fell asleep nicely. Now they turn the light back on and just play. Sigh... We've found them asleep on the floor or in their closet with their light on.

Oh and yeah, light on and partying at 6am sucks.

When our girls started that, we took the bulbs out of the overhead light & instead put a lamp up on a shelf out of their reach.

Ditto this, but instead of a lamp we bought them night light/glow dolls.

Yeah maybe we should, unfortunately they just unplug everything, lol. We had some night lights but they stopped working after a while... and we change them in their room before bed and need the light. Still, might be worth thinking about it lol.

I've been thinking about tap lights in my boys room. I want to mount them out of reach.

You can get a cover for the outlet that prevents them from unplugging a lamp....I can't even get the darn thing off! My boys (who get into everything!!!) gave up trying to get it off after about 2 days and never mess with it now. Ours is similar to this:

I also saw somewhere online a cover you can put over a light switch to keep kids from turning it off and on. Our boys figured out how to turn the lights off and on a couple of months ago, but they are still in cribs. I'm sure they will mess with it once they are in beds. There are a couple of different types, and we haven't tried it yet, but here is an example:

We have ceiling fans in all the bedrooms so it was easy to just pull the chain and viola no more light!

We are going through the same thing with our girls. They were fine for the longest time, now they want to turn on the light and play when it is bedtime. We started doing the ceiling fan light so that they can't turn it on and off with the switch.

I had ceiling fans installed in all our bedrooms when they were about 18 months old so I never had to deal with this problem. I also like being able to pull the chain during the day if they start going light crazy which seems to be happening a lot more since they turned 4.

For now, I would take out the lightbulbs at bedtime. I used the lightswitch protector plates when they were around 2 and they figured them out within a few weeks.
