How old is too old for a Toddler bed? My boys are 3.5 and having huge sleep issues, they are currently together in a queen bed, but that is about all that fits in their room, so we are looking for alternatives.
They are too small for bunks right now, so Toddler beds seemed to make more sense!

How big is their room? L&M's cribs converted to toddler beds and they hated them. They went straight to a full size bed sleeping together  We are still in the process of re-doing their room and we got them 2 twin beds. I have had to push them together so that they still sleep together, but it is as big as a queen, I think. Do you think the issues are stemming from them sleeping together?

Why not bunk beds? My daughter started sleeping on the top bunk at two. Her older bro got the bottom bunk because he got up to use the bathroom at night and she didn't. (Although I would find her snuggled into bed with him on occasion!)

I think everyone sleeps better when they sleep alone, so maybe that is some of the trouble? Perhaps just twin mattresses on the floor? I have 4 bad sleepers so I understand how sleep issues affect everything.

I have the same issues. we are currently in the process of re-doing the boys room. My 3 DS will share. We have bunk beds & are getting a new set, the twin top full bottom, as @ night all 5 of the kids play musical beds while i am sleeping .. they usually all end up in the same room in a twin bed. :unknw:

How about a trundle twin bed.. If you have limited space. The bed rolls under , yet they will be in their own beds but close to each too..

    GOOD LUCK...

Their room is an ok size, but is laid out odd, 1 wall is all closet, so the configuration has to be a certain way.
I am ok w/bunks, their grandmother who is an ER nurse is giving me h#ll about it!
most nights they sleep seperate, becuase one is in my bed, so i am at a loss honestly! I even have a bunk bed on lay away, it was a steal of a price, but haven't ordered it yet.
I just wanted to hear that I am not alone in this! Glad to know i am not!!

the toddler beds were also a cheaper option for right now, that was my other selling point on them.

My kids are 4 and would probably still be OK in toddler beds (although their twin beds look crowded because they bring so many books and stuffed animals into bed with them  ). I know you didn't intend to start this debate, but FWIW, I would not put a child that young on the top of a bunk bed. I'm not a worrywart, but the statistics are pretty clear. Also, my girls still fall out of bed every once in awhile.

The twins are nearly 5 and still sleeping in their converted toddler beds. BUT....a new baby is on the way, so we will be using one of our cribs for the new arrival and getting the twins bunk beds (single over single)

The only downside to going from a regular sized bed to a toddler bed is the mattress change. Instead of toddler beds, by don't you go to single (twin) beds that will last them both much longer than a toddler bed. If you go with a toddler bed, chances are you will be looking at getting new beds in a couple years and will have to get new beds and new mattresses. Save your money and your time and skip the toddler bed stage unless you have a toddler bed and crib mattress already. My kids will likely be using their single beds for the rest of their living at home life.
