My two have recently started kicking the sides of the crib and when I am downstairs, I can hear them through the ceiling. It is very scary. I know nothing can happen but the first few times, I ran over to look at the video monitor (I always keep the sound monitor with me but the video stays in one place) to make sure they didn't fall out of the crib. I am just wondering if this happens with anyone else babies.

Oh most definately my two do this. It sounds like they are kicking it completely down they get going pretty good. So far they just kick kick kick and nothing seems to stop it.

Yep, I have one that does that. She has also started jumping up and down and shaking the rails like crazy.

This describes my two perfectly, and they love to scream at the top of their lungs while doing it. :D

Mine don't kick the side of the crib, but they beat their feet on the mattress over and over again especially during the night. It sounds just like a drum! It gets so loud, it sometimes wakes us up. They normally fall back asleep after a while.

It is really loud. We couldn't figure out what it was until we snuck in one night. My little one kicks the Fisher Price Aquarium thing-y and it goes up and down noisily!

My boys too! For us though it was just a phase and they are done kicking now!

Mine are mattress kickers also. I've watched them through the cracked open door before and they lift both feet into the air and slam them down together. Their room is directly over the kitchen and they often do this while falling asleep at night and I'm washing dishes so I've gotten very used to the sound. It's a soothing technique and as annoying as it is, it's better than screaming for me to come help them get to sleep.
