I have no idea if this is normal or that DH and I just think its odd because we have one DD who does it and the other doesn't, but Ana kicks and moves her legs almost constantly when she is awake. We joke that she is either 1) working out for an up-coming marathon, 2) doing her daily cardio,or 3) has restless leg syndrome. But its starting to concern us because her little legs are almost always on the move!

She loves to lay next to you and kick (we call it "feet of fury" because those little kicks can start to hurt!). DH and I are both psychologists so we joke that she is going to be a hyperactive kid. This kicking/moving hasn't interferred with her ability to roll or play, but it does throw off her balance when sitting... but she has just started sitting up so I don't think that counts.

Anyone else with a kiddo that just won't sit/lay still? At night before she falls asleep she sometimes lifts her legs up and then bangs them down on the mattress, but then she settles down and goes to sleep. She is such a sweet laid back kid, but her constant movement is something that seems odd in contrast to her sister (who is tempermentally more 'spirited'). Do you think we should mention it to our ped at their 6 month appointment next week? -Leighann

Oh YEAH! My little one (Sarah) is constantly kicking. She brings both feet to the center & inward (like a yoga position) then kicks them out. She will repeat then non stop! It is so funny. I haven't been concerned with her on this topic though. She used to be the quiet, almost blank one. While Kaylee was the clown. Now that Sarah has snapped out of the quiet phase & into the jolly one, I guess I was just thankful! She was baby B & the smaller (by 1 1/2 lbs) so I worry about her more I think. She's always been the one with more issues. But she is definetly in the race now! HA! I'm sure your little one is just fine. I think it's just that they've figured out they can do something new & they love it! We call Sarah our little soccer player! :)

    Best Wishes!

Mine are just 3.5 months and they will slam their legs down in crib after I feed them their middle of the night bottle. They don't ever cry just trying to readjust to go back to sleep I guess.

My DD does the same thing, and DH and I also joke she has RLS!!! We have a video monitor, and before you ever hear her you will see her legs fly up in the air and come banging down on her mattress. It's one of the reasons we HAD to separate them - the whole mattress would THUD and vibrate everytime she would do it! I don't think it's a problem to be concerned with though!

My DS is like that too! All he does is kick, kick, kick! So much more then his sister ever has or his older brother ever did. My DH has nicknamed him Happy Feet! :) Doesn't it make you wonder what they will be like when they are walking/runnig everywhere?

My DS (3.5months) is constantly kicking his little legs as well. We call it "kick and play" and it is all he ever wants to do. He does it while I am trying to feed him, while I am trying to change his diaper, while I am trying to get him in his miracle blanket, and then all of the other times when he is in his bouncy or in the stroller etc...
My DD is more into using her arms. Even during tummy time all DS does and grind his toes into the blanket and stick his but in the air and try to scoot forward while dragging his head on the ground!

Same thing here, Leighann! But only daughter ... Jake does is sometimes, but Hailey is like a psycho soccer player! She's got those feet moving all the time like a crazy woman! Although they both do the lifting of the legs in the crib and the dramatic slam down thud! I think it's normal ... especially since all the PPs say the same thing ... But I do have the situation where it's one twin much more than the other ... I always chalk it up to Jake being such a chubb. He still hasn't rolled over, and my pedi told me its probably just cause he's too fat! haha .. makes me laugh everytime ... i think he just likes to lay around like a slug.

Thank you SO much everyone for your replies!!! I seriously started to worry if it was some kind of neurologic thing, but that was just because I was comparing her to her sister. Its so good to hear that a lot of kids do this... maybe we should invent a new sport- infant soccer! -Leighann
