kick counts

Just wondering if while you were pregnant with twins if your doctor suggested kick counts and at what week did you start doing them?

I was pregnant with twins in 2009 and lost one in utero due to sudden onset of TTTS. I am pregnant with twins again and am thinking it might be hard to do kick counts with two babies in there. I was never told to do them last time and it hasn't been mentioned yet this time. I am 24w 2d.

 

I was told not to worry about them, as you're never really sure who is who. (Although mine didn't really budge from 30 weeks on, so I probably could have made a good guess).

 

They never told me too, but I had 2 NST per week from 24 weeks until 37 weeks due to PTL, so maybe that's why it was never suggested. If you are overly concerned I would have a talk with your OB.

 

I asked my ob about them and she laughed. She said to me, and I quote, "I told all of my patients to count kicks. Then I got pregnant." So-she does not recommend kick counts because like other pp's mentioned-you don't know who is who.

Same here - my perinatologist told me that with twins, kick counts aren't reliable, so don't bother.

 

I was never told to count kicks either. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
