We are considering ordering some Kettler tricycles for Christmas. Does anyone already have them and if so, would you please provide some feedback? Also, which one do you have? Thanks!

I have heard only good about these and considered them. However, I have also heard many on this board say that their babies could not pedal until much older- like 2.5 years. In lieu of that, suggestions have been made to get a Cozy Coupe which they can do with their feet on grass or cement.

    HTH!

Mine got them for their second birthday and used them for 2 years! They are great trikes and hard to tip over.

We have two and really like them. However, I didn't comparison shop (one was a hand-me-down, and I got the other at a yard sale for $35), so I can't swear they're 10x better than any other kind, or absolutely worth the money.

We have one with a larger seat, a cargo basket in the back, and a long handle for the parent to push. The other has a smaller seat, no bucket, and no handle. Since they are too young/short to pedal for now, we greatly prefer the one with the handle! Otherwise, they seem pretty comparable.

At just turned 2, Amy is just on the verge of being able to pedal -- she understands the concept, but her legs are a bit too short and she isn't quite coordinated enough to keep the right amount of pressure without her feet slipping off the pedals. Sarah is nowhere near being able to.

So, thumbs up on the trikes, but definitely get the ones with the parent handles. They also make one where you can override the steering, so that you can steer with the handle while the kids spins the wheel however she wants. Ours doesn't have that, but it would be a nice feature!

I also considered the Cozy Coupes, but figured they'd outgrow them too fast.

Alden, have you tried adjusting the trikes? I know ours could adjust to a pretty short distance between the eat and pedals--Marcus is average height and could reach the pedals at 2--didn't get pedalling, but he could reach!

We got Kiddio tricycles for 22$ (yes 22$ on supersale on Amazon.com!!! with free shipping) They have run the same deal 2 times since we got them in early Oct.

    Kiddio Trikes

They are normally about 50$- we love them becuase they have the parent push handle, the pedals can 'lock' in place so the trikes is like a push bikes and if they cant pedal they dont get twisted up in them, the seat is adjustable, and they are light.

My girls love them and are trying to pedal now at 25 month, but aren't quite there yet- but they can reach the pedal and the handles.

Hope you find something you like!

We had Kiddio's also. K&K got them on their second birthday and used them through their fifth birthday when I passed them along to a TS member. Ours were similar to the bottom of the Kettler page but much much cheaper, I believe ours were from Toys R Us.

What a great deal! Right now it's listed at $48. What's the best way to find out when it goes down to $22? Do you just frequently check Amazon to see when it's on sale?
    thanks.

Thank you so much for all the feedback. The Kiddio Trikes look great...especially with the storage bag. I was also wondering if anyone feels a seatbelt is necessary. I know that it is an option (at least for some models) and I'm concerned because they are pretty young/little. Does anyone find that their children slide off the seats? Also, do you have bike helmets? If so, are there any that you recommend?

We use bike helmets- always or they can not get on the trikes. We dont' ahve a seatbelt and no one has fallen off ever!

For the Amazon deal- just keep checking back. I missed it in late August and was so mad- but then kept checking back and they went back on sale.

I got kettler Happy Air Trikes for the kids for their 2nd bday and they are JUST now trying to pedal at all. It's really better for 3 yr. olds. .... IMO...I would get them ride on toys or some other cheap trike or something rather than spend the bucks on the Kettlers at this point.

we have them and love them. pedalling is not usually mastered till 2.5 or 3 y o. but Alexis started getting it alittle by 2 yr 3 months. but kettlers are good b/c they have the handles. however, I am not able to wheel both children at the same time. I have to take one and DH takes the other.
