What a week. I have strep throat and so I have been sick. I get a call from the babysitter today and she told me that Kelby's eye is very red and swollen and is watering and won't stop. I called the Peds center and they got him in. The one doctor went and got another doctor and It is official he has a big rip under the black of his eye. They even went on to say that this is the worse they have seen. I am so glad my children can set records. LOL. It is not funny, but what do you do.

So my question is this. What do I do for him. He has been laying on my lap and won't get up. We got him an eye patch. We are putting the antibotic drops in and other lubricant drops, but he is just miserable. I also wonder should I have taken him to the Eye Doctor instead? I am freaking out.

O no. I would go ahead and take him to an eye dr as well. Your eye sight is so sensitive. I always go to specialist when needed.

poor guy! and poor mom!! i would take him to a pediatric ophthalmologist. and if it's painful ask if you can give ibuprofen or tylenol so he's not as miserable. maybe to try to make the best of it, you all might play pirates with a pirate patch over his real patch, and a big hat? or to start, just veg together on the couch and look at stories or watch movies, since you're not in top form, either! sending hugs your way!

Alright well I called my eye doctor. He told me to bring up right away. He put numbing drops in his eye and then put an extended wear contact in his eye and said to leave it in until tomorrow and then he will look at tomorrow and take contact out and he should be good a new. I was simply amazed. Kelby Left the dr's office and said "Mommy the dr fixed my eye"

What did they suggest you do? We were in the urgent care center with Ben last Friday night for the EXACT same thing. They put some sort of drops in his eyes, turned off the lights and shone a black-light on his eye and sure enough he had the biggest scratch straight across his eye. They also said it was one of the worst cornea scratches they had ever seen.

They put some numbing drops in his eyes and sent us home with antibiotic drops as well. One BIG thing they stressed to us was NOT covering it with any sort of patch because it needs air to heal. Sure enough, I would say within 24 hours you couldn't even tell it was ever bothering him.

ETA: We were posting at the same time! I'm glad you brought him in and he's on the mend!!

Wow! Glad you took him to the eye doc! I was going to suggest a pediatric eye specialist...I took my son to one once. But sounds like this is working...so yay!!! Sorry for him in the first place, though!
