    Hi Everyone,

My babies are almost two months (!) and I am EBF. So far, I have been sick twice, once was gastrointestinal and now I have a terrible coldy flu-like thing. Obviously, lack of sleep is likely depleting my immune system but I am also wondering if I am eating enough. I have had to cut out almost everything that irritates babies in breast milk (dairy, wheat, onions, garlic, spice etc) so I am basically eating fruits, veggies, whole grains and meats. How do/did you keep up your energy and immune system when BFing, especially on a limited diet? It's not actually the biggies like wheat and dairy that are hard as that is my preferred mode anyway but rather things like onions as I can no longer eat the food people have given us and have to fend for myself now. :) As you know, it is hard enough with two when you are not sick so being sick is a whole other level of hard. Any thoughts on how to keep up energy and immunity would be appreciated.

    Thx in advance,

    Amy

Vitamin D & C. I take both daily, but pop vit C like candy when I'm sick. Increase fluids. I also encapsulated my placenta so when my energy is low I take a placenta pill - although, you aren't supposed to take them when sick, so that wouldn't help anyway. Can you arrange some extra help around the house? A family member, friend, mother's helper for a couple of afternoons a week to give you time to really rest? Feed the babes, hand them over & then go & sleep for two hours, no disruptions (this works best if you can sleep somewhere where you can't hear the babies, or sleep with white noise or music playing). I'm sorry you're sick - that really bites the big one.
