Probably everyone else thought of this before I did, but in case you haven't:

Water guns (the little old-fashioned kind) were such fun when I was a kid, but I don't really want to give my kids any gun-related toys. I found a great alternative. There were some spray bottles in the laundry section at Walmart for $1.25. The girls were with me, so I had them test them to see if they were strong enough to make it work. I worried about that since their hands are super tiny. They could do it. Now we're outside and the girls have been happily spraying everything in sight for the past 45 minutes with the same bottle of water. They are having a blast!

Great idea! I thought watering cans would be a good idea, but they just dump them out and then demand more water. They are good with the kiddie pool, but spray bottles are even better :)

Awesome idea! Maybe spray bottles would keep my girls from turning on the hose and spraying everything with that!

They have smaller ones in the hair section, too, that might be easier for little hands.

I got them some a month ago, and they are still a huge hit. The novelty has not worn off yet. And the best part is it takes them a good hour to drain the whole thing, unlike the 5 seconds it takes to unload a watering can!

Great idea! I saw a few young kids using spray bottles at our neighborhood pool and wondered if my little guys would be strong enough to pump them. Good to know! :)

I looked in the hair section and the only ones our Walmart had were the kind that had to be pumped with your index finger (like hairspray). My kids hands aren't strong enough to do that. The ones by the ironing boards have the trigger you pull back so they can use their whole hand.

Yep. We spray "bugs". LOVE IT. Mine just use old bleach spray bottles or windex bottles of mine and say they are killing bugs with "chemicals". They dig! I dig. fun.
