If your twins were together what did you do when you introduced toddler beds?

We are ready to switch to toddler beds this summer and I am not sure what to do. We have plenty of bedrooms but they love chatting with eachother singing, etc. WWYD? I am torn about keeping them together or seperating them at 3 years old.

I'd separate them if you have the room, they are close together and you can talk them into it.

We separated the girls at 4yrs when we moved to a bigger house. They really loved having their own room. We painted them in their favourite colours. One was purple the other was pink. We later moved to a small house and they shared a room again. A couple of weeks a we separated them again. We felt they could benefit from a bit of space and a bit of me time.

I haven't done it yet, but I am keeping them together for the big change....I guess I don't want to add separation onto a different bed.... I might change my mind when the time comes, but I'm going to try to keep them together for now! Their room is right across from the bathroom and I have visions of pottying in the middle of the night at some point, so I want to keep them right there....

I didn't vote because honestly I don't know what you should do..........K&K are still together at 5 1/2 and it works out fine for us!

We are in the middle of renovations and the end product is 2 separate rooms for the kids after their 2nd birthday. :) I figure it is inevitable that they will want separate rooms. Before I know it, Nicholas will be into Thomas the Train and Star Wars and Maddy will want a doll house and Ariel or something. ;) So at least that way, we can decorate their rooms however they want.

I think that the only time they will miss being in the same room is first thing in the morning. Right now, they wake up and talk to each other and laugh and carry on for nearly an hour before I go get them. ;) I am a bit worried about what will happen when they wake up and are alone (it makes me kinda sad actually...). But then again, it might be good for them. They've never been "alone" in the true sense of the word EVER in their lives and I want them to experience that in this small way before they go off to kindergarten and end up separated (which is what I want to do).

Mine are still in the same room. We plan on moving them into separate rooms when we buy a new house next year. Until then, they really seem to enjoy being in the same room now.

We felt the same way as Diane. The transition to beds seemed big enough that we didn't want to complicate it by separating them. Also, we had one room that was perfect... small, super easy to babyproof, etc. DH jokes that it's just an oversized PNP because there is no furniture (other than the beds) and just some soft toys and books.

Good luck with your transition. I was a basketcase about it for days... but it went smoother than I could have hoped for. Clearly they were more ready for it than me :icon_biggrin:

I was wondering the same thing. We are tight with space so it would take away their playroom to seperate them. Glad I am not the only one that wants them together.

I didn't vote because we had seperated them before we switched to beds. We seperated them because H needs more sleep and she wasn't getting it when C would wake up in the same room and make noise. I think getting them used to being alone first might help so they don't have to be alone and change to a bed at the same time. Or you could always seperate them a while after you change to beds, too. Sorry, I'm no help!

I am starting to think that we will just get both rooms ready and maybe have them start out in one room together. The room they are in now is HUGE and we will make into a playroom. So, we need to paint and move things out of the other two rooms. DD needs more sleep than DS and he so often bothers her that was our main reason for moving them. Thanks for your suggestions! I'll update you in June when we try it.
