I arrived at the hospital on Jan 18 for my scheduled c-section. I got all checked in and everything went fast from there. I got settled in my room and then the questions and all started. At 12:15 they got a call to bring my back almost 45 mins early. Then when we got to the OR staging area another lady decided it was time to push so we ended up waiting on the Dr. for just a little bit.
The spinal was so so much easier than what I had though. The anesthiologist was great and explained everything,in no time at all I was completly numb. My bloodpressure dropped down and I got that faint/fussy feeling but he gave my something to bring it up and I was great after that.
I got my catheter after I was numb, and to tell you the truth I didn't want them to take it out yesterday. I was and am so sore that it was great not having to go to the bathroom. I never felt anything as far as pain or hot/cold senstation just a great relief of pressure after the girls were born.
At 1:31 Katie came in to the world crying and peeing! She was 17"long and weighed 3lbs 14.5 ozs. She was breathing on her own and needed no oxygen. Her Apgar was an 8, and she has a headfull of dark hair.
At 1:36 Carli followed behind. She didn't cry and she looked a little blue. She was 15.75" long and weighed 3lbs 9.5 oz. She had to have a CPAP for a few hours afterwards.

I didn't get to see them until 9:30 Thursday night after the spinal wore off and I was able to go to the nursery. I'm still very sore and am taking the pain meds every 4 hours on the dot. I don't believe in suffering.
My milk has not come in yet, but I'm pumping every 3 hours to help. It gets a little frustrating to pump and get absouletly nothing!

They both spent Thursday night in the Level 3 nursery and have been moved down to the Level 2 nursery now. They have a hard time nippling and are recieving half there feedings by tube and the other half by bottle. Katie already has her IV out and is trying to regulate her body temp.
Carli is a little behind her and still has her IV in and takes more of her feedings by tube. She just gets so tired trying to eat. She also has a touch of jaundace. The neonatologist thinks they should be able to come home in 2-4 weeks. I can't wait to get to bring them home, but next I have to survive going home Sunday or Monday without them.
Sorry this is so long... and here are some new pics of them!

Gosh, they look so great! It's nice to hear a positive C-sections story since I'm probably having one in about 3 weeks - glad it went so well! It sounds like they're doing just great, already moved down from level 3. I bet they suprise you and come home earlier than you think...but get some rest in the mean time!

    Congrats again! Great job mama!

Congratulations! Your experience has been similar to mine. Try not to get too frustrated with the pumping; I pumped religiously for 4STRAIGHT DAYS and got nothing! My supply ended up HUGE, though, the other moms in NICU were jealous of me! [IMG]

Before you know it, they'll be eating by mouth and you'll be home. Recovery is harder trekking back and forth to the NICU, but you'll make it.

They're beautiful and you did a great job!
