My DS at 20 months still does not consistently STTN. If he wakes up it will be anytime from 11pm and then he will be awake for between 2 - 4 hours. I have tried everything, but after 4 hours of crying gave up on full out CIO. Am I alone or is there somebody in the same situation. I am so tired of doing sleep training. At this stage I am just hoping that this will change after he turns two (wishful thinking maybe) <_<

 I know there are others on here who have had issues with STTN and I hope they will share their stories with you. My BF's youngest is 16 months old and she still does not sleep consistently through the night. She's tried CIO and the other methods that worked for her older boys and it's not working with her DD.

    Is he still napping?

Yes, once a day. They wake up between 6:15 and 7:15am nap at 12:30pm and are in bed by 7:30pm. His average nap is 1 half hours, but some days he will nap for 2 hour or 2 half hours, usually if the night was bad. There has been odd days that he has not napped, but that also did not result in STTN.

What about making their bedtime 7:00 or even 6:45? My guys sleep worse the later we put them to bed. Their ideal bedtime is 7:00. We can do 7:30, but any later and they're hard to get to sleep and Chase wakes up. And no matter when we put them to bed, they still wake up between 6:30-7:00am.

Just letting you know you are not alone! Mine are 18 months and still don't STTN every night. It seems like it's every other night. And I'll admit that I still offer a bottle during the night "just in case". One will usually drink part of it, the other rarely does. I figure if I'm up holding a 25 lb kid I'd rather be offering her milk so she'll fall back to sleep easier! Bedtime is 7:00 and they are up around 5:30-6:30 (after 6 I consider myself lucky). They do nap for 2+ hours at daycare but I struggle to get more than an hour out of them on the weekends. I'm also hoping they will "grow out of it"! Hang in there.

Well at least I am not the only one going through this! My twins are 19 months and still wake up at least 2-3 times each night, each child! And apparently every single other parent feels the need to tell me how their child has been sleeping through the night since...well basically birth! =/ So no, you are not alone! It will get better (so "they" say). Lets hope it happens soon though! A full night of sleep sounds oh-so lovely.

Thanks for all the replies. I am glad that I am not the only one and yes all other parents I talk to have babies that have been sleeping through the night since 2/3months. A full nights sleep sounds great. I think the only way I will get that is if I leave them with my mom for a night.

I know you probably don't want to hear this since it probably still feels like a long way off but all my kids got better around their second birthday. My girls were still waking up 2-3 times a night (or more) EACH (like one of the PPs) and the last 2 weeks have started SLEEPING!!!! My son did the same thing...up 2-3+ times a night until shortly after his second birthday. I too feel like every parent I talk to has kids that have been sleeping since birth, in fact up until the last 2 weeks my girls 10 week old cousin was sleeping more than they were :grr:!
