Ok, so I know we are late in doing this, but we are finally night weaning. (almost 19 months) The girls have been sleeping through the night on and off for the past three months or so; and if they wake up, it is only once. So, we've still been nursing that one time IF they get up. Otherwise we are down to just bedtime.

So, for the past two nights, Maya has woken up at 4 am. My DH will go in, offer her a sippy of milk or even some Cheerios, and hold her for awhile. Whenever he puts her down, screaming commences. I'm sure it is because she wants me - well, my boobs more than anything! The night before last we broke down and nursed her and she wouldn't give up for an HOUR. So, last night we said "nope, not happening". At 5:30 her sister woke up and DH did the same for her too, put them both back and came back to bed, turning on a fan in our room to drown out the screams. They finally gave up 1 1//2 HOURS later - and are asleep now at almost 8 am.

I guess I just need some hugs that this will pass and Maya (especially - Naomi doesn't seem to care, really) will figure it out that boobs are out in the nightttime. And if anyone has any better suggestions, I'll take them!

Ugh - this whole breastfeeding thing is hard, starting, continuing, or finishing.

Trust me they will get it, quite fast if you stay consistent! So set time limits, say 7pm-7am where they must stay in thier cribs (and no boobs) and do NOT go in at all, that means no dh going in either, that will just be another "habit" you have to break.

Ugh...sorry you're having a rough time of it. I give you all the credit in the world for doing it this long! I will be thinking of you...your "little sister!"

Hey, how is it going? Night weaning happened at about that time for us.. ok, a little later. DH would go down and settle the one who got up, more than likely dd. Sending him worked for us. Like Kristi said, be consistant. IF you start giving in, they will play you on it every time! I know it is difficult!

The last two nights have been good - we'll see about tonight; it always seems that I get two good nights, then a bad one. Actually, they haven't woken up at all for the past two nights.

As we are nursing before bed, I tell them - "we aren't nursing anymore at night, so if you wake up, just curl up with your blankie or animal and go back to sleep". I have no idea if they understand or not, but I haven't heard anything from them for the past two nights.

Thanks for your support - you ladies are the best. I know I couldn't have done this without you!
