I am just shy of 4 wks so still pretty early but I would love to get an early u/s to rule out or prepare for twins. What should I expect for a pg after twins? When would be a good wk to see the h/b(s) along with how many babies are there?
    TIA!

Most clinics (unless you used fertility drugs) want to see you at the earliest at your 8th week. That is a good time for an ultrasound too.

    Congratulations! :)

My first u/s with both pregnancies (singleton and twins) was at 8-9 weeks.

Best of luck to you with this pregnancy! My singleton pregnacy was a cake walk!!!

I had a singleton pg was my first pg and I do agree that singleton pg's are very easy compared.

I have my first appt next Thurs. I was expecting her to ask me how far along or where i was at in my cycle etc but she prob thought she would leave that up to the midwife.

But I am hoping she is the type to hear or feel that I really want an early u/s and get me in as soon as she can (I thought the 7th wk was the start of being able to see or hear too much) that we can find out for sure.

    Congratulations Christina,
What is "Tetrology of Fallot"? Could you tell us? And did you have them at 28 weeks? Thanks! Are you hoping for twins again, or no?

    Thanks girls!

ivfbound-Tet is 4 heart defects in 1. There is a hole between the left and right atriums, the blood flow to the lungs is very constricted, one of the atriums are smaller and I can't remember the other one, we only concentrated on 2 of them.
Yes they were born at 27 w 6 d, one day shy of 28 wks to be exact. Only because of Abbi's umbilical cord flow. It became very restricted. She had IUGR and her placenta was half the size it should have been and her cord was not attached right to the placenta.
I would prefer not to have another set of twins but if I get them I will be just fine. Twins the pg and taking care of them (Abbi had a lot of special needs) is so much harder then a singleton. But again I am preparing myself for the possibility of having two.

If you had a 'complicated' pregnancy---they may u/s you as soon as 6 weeks.

For IVF--we got an u/s at 5,6,7& 8 weeks JUST at the RE's office ( to see if they were twins and see if both were still there), then the PERI did one every other week.

    Good Luck & Congrats!!!

My singleton pg was textbook, no problems. My twin pg seemed ok at first but then I had high bp and was hospitalized at around 25 wks and was there till I gave birth 2 wks later. So yeah I am wondering if there is only one in there if they will still monitor me a little closer.

Congratulations and I hope that you have a healthy and uneventful pregnancy.

Most times they will schedule u/s around 8 weeks. For me, this time around, I had one around 6 weeks (didn't know I was 6 weeks until the u/s) because I was on the pill and had no idea how far along I could possibly be.

    Congrats Briana!

I am hoping I can get her to give me one early. I don't necessarily want to see the hb (would love to but not necessary) or see any details would just like to see how many are there.

Well at 6 wks there were no heartbeats... just little gestational sacs. I will have another u/s at 10wks to confirm both babies developed into fetus' and there should be heart beats then.

I would love to know early like that. Gives you more time to prepare.

I don't know if I would want to know early. I would worry too much. I didn't find out until I was 19w with my twins and that was enough time for me to worry :)

I found out the 1st time at 13 wks and this time at 6 wks. I couldnt wait to find out this time but honestly it is going to make for a terribly long pregnancy!!

I actually enjoyed knowing at 10 wks last time. I am such a planner as far as getting the things we need, having more time to buy what we need, more time to stock up on diapers. I guess once I found out I didn't worry as much as I would have waiting and not finding out till around 20wks.

I would worry this time not knowing if there were two in there.

Someone told me on another mb I go to that my very early nausea etc could be twins. Oh great now I am really wanting to know. lol!
