Hello ladies, my name is Lisa. I'm a 33 year old mother of 4 kiddos and just found out this week that I'm expecting twins!!! What a shock! LOL!

I'm sure I'll have many questions. I'm now over 9 weeks. I'm on the fence about whether or not to find out the genders. Before I found out it was twins, I wanted to keep it a surprise. Well, I got my surprise this week when I saw the twins, so not sure what to do now. I think it would be so fun to keep them a surprise, but on the other hand this is big news, I may want to find out. Decisions, decisions!

Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself! :)

Hi Lisa

Congratualtions!
:D I think your right about it being fun to find out their gender when their born. I wish that I had done that with my second son . . . knowing beforehand took some of the mystery out of the pregnancy!! ;)

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!!

Welcome Lisa and Congratulations!

I was also going to keep gender a surprise as I had with my other kids. . . but seeing twins at that 9 week ultrasound was surprise enough for us. We're definitely going to find out early this time!

My son would have exploded not knowing… and I think it is helping him bond with them… he likes to rub my belly before he walks into his classroom, then he says “bring me a good luck day boys”

I see positives to both situations. I guess I have some time to think about it. It's gonna be a hard decision! LOL

Hello,

Congratulations on your twins and welcome to the site. I was 33 when we found out we are having twins. I am now 34. My DH and I are waiting until the babies are born to find out the genders. I knew with my other two and wish that I hadn't. This is the ultimate surprise, the only thing left that we can't find out with the click of a button. It is hard sometimes not knowing, but it will be worth it. We can shop for gender specific outfits later, we just have some really cute gender neutral clothes now. Good luck with your decision.

I don't know what the genders are of your other kids....if you have baby clothes for both genders it would be a lot easier to keep it a surprise and still be prepared! But on the other hand...it's so much fun to go out and buy "twinny" clothes...coordinating stuff for b/g or the same outfits for g/g or b/b... Do you think anyone will be throwing you a shower since it's twins?? It might make it a lot easier to register for stuff if you know the genders!
What fun! Are your other kids excited about it??
congrats!

Our twins were a surprise as well! We live in a teeny tiny condo and I wanted to go ahead and get everything ready for the future. So I wanted to know their sexes. But it was kinda ironic.....I knew all along that I was having boys even before the ultra sound!!

Hi Lisa,
congratulations! My aunt had 4 children and then got pregnant with twins - and she loved it. She said the difference between 4 and 6 children was not that dramatic, just in case you are reeling! She said the relationship between her twins as opposed to the relationships between their other children was different and so amazing. She was so happy for me when I had my twins. It is really special, you will love it!
Hope you have an easy, uneventful pregnancy.

Thanks for your replies, everyone!

jcs, I'm really glad you shared that with me. I've been freaking out about how large our family will be. I really want to be able to enjoy them, and not be too stressed. I know it's going to be a challenge, but I think it will be soo rewarding! :)

LOL! You sound just like me! I was 33 when I found out about the twins and I have 4 at home too! I was ready to wait to find out with 1, but I decided with 4 children at home, I needed to be prepared for 2! It has made things much easier! My DH said he could have waited, but I find it funny that he would say that as money concious as he is! The idea of having to buy clothes after the twins are born, seems humorus to me. I can just imagine the look on his face when we would have to start buying wardrobes for 2 all at once! What did your husband do when he found out? You could have knocked mine over with a feather! LOL! It was a good thing he was sitting down is all I can say! Good luck and hope to read more posts from you!
