well i thought i was expecting 1, edd july 4th. it's our first. im completely paranoid and worried about losing he/she. so the day before thanksgiving i had some spotting and bad cramping, so we went to the ER. u/s showed us not 1 beating heart, but 2! they were both measuring exactly, to the date, according to my LMP. i go to my doc this wednesday for an u/s, and im praying they're both there. this is our first pregnancy, and we just happened to get 2 by luck.
im 8wks2days..since we saw both hearts and both babies were growing on schedule..is there still a big chance for VT syndrome?
well i hope to be around for at good 7 months, and even after. you ladies all seem wonderful, and i have yet to find a multiples messageboard that is so active.

Congratulations! Your risk of VTS does go down with seeing two heartbeats. We had two heartbeats and the doctor said there was still a 10% chance of a vanishing twin until 12 weeks. Stay positive though. Chances are you will bring home two healthy babies.

congrats! i bet u were shocked:) vanishing twin can happen up to 14wks but since u heard the heartbeats thats a great sign! are they in 2 sacs or one?

oh thanks for the reassurance. that makes me feel a LIL bit better :) i'll feel alot better wed. when i see both babies again...but of course, by the end of the night i'll prolly be paranoid again. i dont know what it means about 2 sacs or 1. it looked like a big oval shape, then a line sorta diagonal down the center. you ladies are SO wonderful.

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. I'm still in shock myself. I keep wondering when it will feel real. Hope you have a healthy and happy 9 months!

Congrats...the same thing happened to me at 8 weeks I started to bleed, went in for an U/S and found out it was twins. 2 sacs mean each baby is safely in their own sac versus sharing one sac. The line down the middle is the membrane seperating the two, they will probably tell you they are fraternal but their is still something like a 30% chance they could be identical.

Oh my goodness.... you are exactly like me! I was so paranoid the first few weeks. I still worry now - but, I'm trying to get over it. We found out at 12 weeks that we're having twins.

Congrats on your big news! You'll get lots of advice/support on this site. Welcome!

Welcome to motherhood!! This is my first pregnancy and I can tell you I was such a worrier and still am, but to a lesser degree now that I can feel them moving all the time. Hearing both heart beats is a big hurdle! We were all there at one point so take that as reassuring evidence :) Usually at that early stage you would see two little round sacs and a heartbeat in each one. Twins sharing the same sac are very rare. I'm so excited for you!!

Congrats!!! My double surprise came at 17.5 weeks!! I was shocked! I made it to 38.5 :)

Do you know if they are ID?

It's rare to share a sac (as that means they are ID and were a few days away from being conjoined twins), but it's so good to see that dividing membrane (Which means there's two sacs)! If they can tell where your placenta placement is, they can definitely tell if the babies are hooked up to their own or they share one. Sharing 1 means you have to keep an eye out for TTTS, but it also means that if you only find out the sex of one baby - you already know what the sex of the other is. :D

I didn't find out until I was almost 17 weeks. But I had a huge inkling (movements at 11 weeks and at 16, my fundus was already 4 weeks ahead and at my belly button.)

Oh and don't bother getting too much maternity clothes as you will grow faster and larger than with a singleton!!

    Welcome!
