So, I'm just starting to feel that it's real. We are having twins. I'm almost 38 years old, happily married and have a 3.5 high spirited/sensitive boy. I'm a little nervous for what is to come but I'm trying to take it day by day.

Doc said that I have an abnormal shaped uterus (with septum) and there's a baby on each side. I go for a specialists ultrasound next week to see what's up. I'm super scared for this and what it means.

Here is the 8/9 week photo of the ultrasound:

I don't see anything abnormal on here. I've compared it with other ultrasound pics on the net and I cannot find anything wrong. Has anyone on here had this experience?

Anyway, I am happy to be on this group as I"m sure I will have a million questions. Please send us healthy vibes.

    :)

Its kind of hard to be accurate of anything in an early ultrasound exam, So as hard as it is, try not to worry about anything because its really to early to tell how things are going to develope in my opinion. I try to live by the motto "Pray, hope, don't worry." I know its easier said then done, but always try to think on the positive side =)

Congratulations!! I agree, try not to worry and just wait to hear what the specialist has to say. Hopefully, it won't affect your pregnancy. I think many doctors tend to be overly cautious with twin pregnancies since it is high-risk. Hopefully, your OB is just making sure everything is in tip top shape.

I had a septum that was resected with surgery, but I am pretty sure it is not something that can be diagnosed by U/S.

I'm glad you are seeing a specialist, if you have a septum or bicornuate uterus, it will be very important to be seen regularly be a perinatologist. If you've already carried a successful pregnancy, things will probably go really well for you. But it's good to be watched closely with twins.

We found out we were having twins when I made a trip to the ER at 6 weeks because I thought I was having a miscarriage with just one. On the radiology report it said something about a bicornuate uterus, but this was my 4th pregnancy. I should have been diagnosed with BU a LONG time ago. It was just something they had to rule out because the ER didn't know my case. Congrats on your little beans- they sure are cute!!

I have Uterine Dydelphys. (sp?) It is where I have two uterus' and two cervix' and I had two vaginal cavities. They removed the septum in the vagina but kept everything else the same.

The boys were in my left uterus and I carried them to 35w5d. I was expected to have pre-term labor due to the size of the uterus, but we made it rather far without any complications. I was monitored very closely and recieved ultrasounds every few weeks.

If you have any questions let me know!
