What things don't you like about raising kids or your day to day routine? (besides the obvious lack of sleep ) What are those little things that just seem to take up the time? What are the things that make you glad at the end of another long day Mine are: Least Fav. - BURPING I hate this, have no patience for it and don't seem to be as good at it as my husband! - the time its takes just to get out the house even when there are no major dramas with any of the children. - I really miss being able to go out for a coffee with friends. Sooooo much harder with 2 than 1 baby. - Routines I have a love/hate with routines - can't survive without them but miss being spontaneous Favourite - That feeling of superiority when mothers of singletons whinge about how hard it is with a baby that doesn't sleep/feed/is sick/tired/teething! - breastfeeding Again this could go in least favs as well but I love knowing that I alone am keeping my bubs going. Selfish maybe, but true. Also very convienient! - The way they smile with their whole face - beautiful! - Pride when they learn a new skill
Favorite Things: -When they wake up from a nap and give me a huge smile when I go in to get them -Whey they are being held by someone else and they start looking for me when they hear my voice -When they learn to do something new, the look of surprise and pride on their faces -When they cuddle in my arms Least Favorite Things: -Spitting up: Both have awful reflux and the 3 of us are covered in spit-up all day long -The immense amount of laundry that results from all of the spit-up -Not being able to go out often like my friends with singletons; it is such an ordeal to take them anywhere -When they are both crying and one has to wait because I only have 2 hands
Favorite things: Their smiles and their laughs when they are happy. Seeing their arms reach for me whenever I am around. How they smell all clean after a bath with combed hair. So sweet. Watching them discover eachother, and learn to play together. The feeling of satisfaction I have after we have a good day with minimal meltdowns, good naps, good eats, fun playtime. Least Favorite Things: The mountain of laundry always awaiting me, wash me, fold me, put me away. Days where naps don't go well/at all. Cranky babies who both want mom to pick them up and carry them around. Fighting to put a diaper on a squirming baby. Explaining stranger anxiety to family who don't see them often. Twins are 10.5 months old, b/g.
Oooh, that's a couple of good ones! The one about a day of minimal meltdowns and good napping vs a day of naps not working - so true!
Favorites: -when I leave the gate open "accidentally" and they realize it. One bolts up to it and then turns to look and make sure the other is following -twin talk in their room first thing in the morning -its my alarm clock -the smiles, the laughs, the hugs and kisses -the smell of them, even if it isn't right after a bath. I know now how animals can find their young--you just know their smell Least favorites: -changing diapers has become painful for mommy. They twist and turn and crawl away--and they are soooo strong! -baths have become a challenge now too. They want to stand and grap the edge. Usually someone ends up slipping and I'm fighting to wash them -when I am trying to get something done and they are crying at the baby gate to join me -
Fun!! Least Favorites -Burping for me as well. My boys are not good burpers and it usually ends up with spit up or angry boys. -Ethan's colic spells. I just want to make him feel better and it breaks my heart when I can't. -When both babies are crying at once. I only have two hands Favorites -Their smiles! Chase is a flirt when he smiles and Ethan is a ham. He gives this huge smile and shrugs his shoulders at the same time. I love it! -Their milk comas- I love seeing them so content. -That I'm the one that easily calm them down when they're upset. -Being a mom- we TTC for 2 years and I'm loving every minute of being a mom.
In the first year my favourites were: - Any new discovery.. no matter how small. I loved watching the wheels turning in their little heads. - Bathtime.. clean babies, they always loved the water. - When they'd fall asleep on my chest after feeding. - When they'd stretch out and make a big funny face. My least favourite things were: - The spitting up... ugh, we had two spitters that would paint the whole house until about 11 months. It was constant laundry and our whole house smelled. - Being double teamed with the crying. There was the occasional day I'd have to just let them wail while I sat on the front porch! - Cleaning up high chairs and doubling my laundry when they started solids. Messy!
Least favorit: - when they wake up before I have my morning coffee (and I am up at 5 am every morning) - cranky babies - when we go off schdule and I'm not sure how the rest of the day will fold out - I have to say changing diaper is definitely no longer fun... Favorit: - when they take a bath and splash more water out than it's in the bathtub - their honest belly laugh, I mean, there is nothing like that - i love to feed them, they love food - that they are becoming independent and mobile - when i smile at them and they smile right back at me - they are barely ever cranky - to kiss those chubby cheeks... aww, you gotta love that...lol
Least favorite - Anytime we have to travel to Sick Kids for our DD - it breaks my heart to see her sitting with the cardiologists smiling her beautiful smile, innocent and totally trusting. Sedated echos (there is nothing worse than having to administer the sedation - i could skip that for the rest of my life!) Changing diapers has become a game of naked powdered up twister! Fun for the whole family When one gets nursed before nap time - the other one inevitably looks up and starts to cry When i am alone at night - After they nurse tandem - its a juggle to get one to bed and the other one is left on the bed - and i always am scared they will cross the pillow blockade. (note to self ... need new solution ) Favorite - In the morning when i hear them playing in their cribs and singing Watching them hold hands while they tandem feed before bed Listening to them gargle water from their sippy cups Watching them in the jolly jumper springing up and down Belly laughs, snuggles and kisses When they Blow kisses Snuggle snacks in the AM (when they come into bed with me and nurse while we are laying down) When they **** their heads to the side and smile all coy
