    Hi everyone,
Just a couple hours ago I was walking my 85 pound dog and he lunged from the curb for something and somehow I got air and landed on my back in the middle of the street. I'm thinking now it was my butt, then my back, because my left butt cheek is SORE in a big way. I paged the on-call doctor and heard back from her after an excruciating hour of stress...she said not to worry since I'm not bleeding or having other symptoms. What do you guys think? I feel so badly for the babies, they must have been really jarred. I feel movement but mostly on the left side, just like usual really. I just totally lost it and bawled LOUDLY the whole way back to my house thinking, how could I jeapardize things at this point on a dog walk?!?!?!? I'm calmer now but probably won't feel great til my ultrasound on Monday.

Ouch, that must have hurt. I know how scared you must be. I'm glad you called the Dr., she doesn't seem to be worried so that should ease your mind a little, until your U/S on Monday. I would take it easy this weekend, probably no more big dog walks, and make sure you are still feeling movement. I'm sure everything is fine, but know you won't be totally convinced until your u/s Monday. :hug99:

I can tell you that even though it was a big jarring event for you those babies are pretty well protected in there. I would have been scared as well, but you did the right thing calling the doctor and they were not concerned so that should ease your mind a little. I will tell you that 2 weeks ago I was rear ended by another car on my way to my OB appointment, and there were no problems. Take it easy over the weekend and rest your back. MOnday when you see your babies on the ultrasound you will be able to really breathe a sigh of relief...

I fell earlier today also....walking UP the stairs...how graceful am I. I too was totally scared. Luckily I didn't hit my belly, but I immediately had a contraction after I fell. I am glad to see your doctor gave you the thumbs up. I actually have fallen a lot while I am pregnant. I am so embarrassed at being such a bad mom. This belly thing is just really hard for me to maneuver around.

I fell down the steps at the end of September. It is a good thing that you called your doctor and if they are not worried then you should be fine. My doctor had suggested that I go see a chiropractor to help with the aches and pains and that has helped a lot.

Take it easy and rest! Feel better soon!

I am sorry that happened to you. I too have taken a couple of spills while being pregnant. Once at 5 weeks....and I did start to bleed the following day....but everything has turned out well. Then another on my way from the car to the door after my Perinatologist told me ...do not do anything to "JAR" yourself! I fell in the front yard....I am front heavy! I am only 5' tall....and am all belly!! I landed on my knees and didn't have any bleeding from that one....it was at 19 weeks.

I hope that all is well with you. and If you get too concerned don't be afraid to contact your dr. if you are worried about the amount of movement....one thing that I have found that gets my guys moving ....is to put a cold water bottle on them....they will move away from it!

    keep us posted!

Last Saturday my wife and I were rear-ended. It was very traumatic for my 27-week-pregnant wife. She was admitted to the hospital and monitored for 6 hours; everything turned out to be fine with her and our twins. They must be well-padded in there. I would wait till Monday's ultrasound; this goes without saying, but if you're really worried, you should definitely go to the hospital.

How frightening! Take it easy today, and maybe talk your hubby into massaging those sore muscles.

I too, have a big dog, and when he tugs on the leash, I just drop it. Usually, when they don't feel you back there anymore, they get confused and stop lunging/running whatever. Obviously do NOT do this if you live in a heavy-traffic area or your dog is aggressive, or if you have a dog that runs really really fast. My dog is a slowpoke and he is in a cast (broken foot) so he's not going anywhere in a hurry--if our situation were different, I'd just make sure my hubby walked him instead.

Sorry you fell… and I know it will be in your head all weekend (it would be in mine)… try to distract yourself with funny movies… it helped my during my last pregnancy that was VERY stressful… every test came back “elevated” and I would stress until I had my next “specialist” appointment. I have an 80 pound Lab (who is only one year old this month) and he gets easily distracted by squirrel and just about anything, and does the same thing… lunges (my 9 year old son couldn’t walk him anymore because of it) so I got a gentle lead… and now even grandma after shoulder surgery can walk my puppy. It can look like a muzzle but its not, and he can eat/drink with it on… and our dog gets walked a whole lot more then if we didn’t use it… just an FYI

:hug99: We're having quite a week aren't we? I stopped walking Bella months and months ago. I feel bad and she is definitely holding a grudge against me, but it's too much worry if I run into triggers for her to lunge or get wiley. I hope you feel better and your bum doesn't hurt too bad.

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm definitely more accident-prone these days. The Gentle Leader is a good idea, we actually have one and just haven't used it in a long time since he's USUALLY fine but he is lab and squirrels and certain other animals get him revved up without warning. I dont' think I'll walk him again but if I do it will be holding the leash with my fingertips. I had it wrapped around my wrist which was really dumb so I couldn't let go. If only he were like Lassie and concerned about my wellbeing!! He's a big dope :) I'm not feeling too worried since they're moving a lot, but I did have a friend tell me today that her friend tripped over her dog and actually tore the placenta from the wall and is now on bedrest. So all you ladies be very careful!!!

My dog is a dogue de bordeaux (french mastiff), like Hooch out of the movies 'Turner and Hooch' ie. BIG, and I have not walked him since i was about 8 weeks pg. Mainly because he pulled and I felt a wrench of my muscles 'down there'. Pre preg, i would walk him without restraining him as he is well behaved and will do what he is told, and would only put the lead on him for roads and when I think he might scare other pedestrians! So basically he wont walk on the lead without pulling, so I make others walk him, or he goes without - it's just until I have my babies and then I will make it all up to him. lol.
I hope you are feeling better and I think I would avoid /delegate dog walking duties to someone else for now :)
