Dh took Nefeli in to the er Thursday at 3am after her fever just would not drop. she had some fever maybe once a day since monday and was congested but nothing like this. they decided to keep her because of a urinary track infection. poor little baby.
now let me tell you Greek hospitals are good in terms of medicine but have a strange way of working. they expect the parent to be there all day and night and the hospital only deals with medicine. you do everything else! dh took night shift and i took the day shift. my parents were here with Iris during the day for some hours so dh could get some sleep. when he was in the hospital he slept in a chair in a ward with 4 other children and parents also sleeping on chairs or if they could fit crawling in bed with their child!
Nefeli was given iv fluids because she was dehydrated and iv antibiotics. she got better so today since she was no longer on iv and could take antibiotics orally i signed her out. drs didn't think it was that bad of an idea. monday we have to go back for a kidney ultrasound to see if there was any damage. Iris has kidney reflux so maybe Nefeli does to.
i'm just so happy both my girls are home. it was so strange they were in different places.
what surprised me the most is that Nefeli totally got over her stranger anxiety there. usually she would cry if anyone touched her. now she was laughing and waving at everyone and tugging on the drs sleeve! i tell you she probably thought it was a party with all those people around.
a stay in the hospital definetly puts things into perspective though. made me think of how many things i have to be grateful of.
i'm so ready for a quiet night at home :D
    life is good!

    Thanks for your posts.
We all slept great in our own beds last night!
Nancy thanks for asking about the pt. She's been doing better we will be starting a regular schedule twice a week this coming week. I was worried that the days in the hospital being in bed all day would make her fall behind but I guess there's no way to avoid that. I'm glad we didnt' stay longer.
