Went in for an ultrasound and an OB appt yesterday. I had gained 7 pounds in 7 days. My swelling was terrible and my BP 138/84. That is high BP for me as I normally have quite a low bp. She sent me straight to the hospital to be admitted. They did blood work and it came back normal. They also did a 24 hour urine and I have not received the results of that yet.

Here is the kicker, I was having contractions with I arrived at the hospital so I was pumped with 1500 cc of fluid. I would assume that is what caused me to gain 4 pounds in 20 hours. Can you believe that? I don't think my Dr. would have let me go home today, but the Dr. on call did. I see my Dr. in the morning, so I am anxious to see what she says, but I know she really wants me to get to the 36 week mark, which is 5 more days away.

You would not believe the swelling. It is actually even worse after being in the hosptial for a day. All the nurses that saw it could hardly believe how bad it was. I can hardly walk it is so bad. So, please think about me over the next few days as it is going to be very hard dealing with all this swelling and the pain that goes with it.

If anyone has suggestions about the swelling, please let me know. I am doing all the normal things like drinking tons of water (with lemon), staying away from sodium, and keeping my feet up at all times, but those things are not helping at all and the Dr. says she does not expect it to go away, but I am still willing to try.

My babies are at 5 lbs. 13 oz. and 5 lbs. 3 oz. and the BPP shows they are practicing their swollowing, so I think they are doing well.

That doesn't sound too good, I'm thinking they probably should not have let you go home. It sounds like you have pre-eclampsia to me and it really needs to be kept a close eye on. I'm glad you are seeing your dr. in the morning.

yeah, I second that. In fact, if you are ever admitted to the hospital again and are under other doctors' care, you have every right to speak with your doctor before being release to make sure they are working under her orders, being that she's the one that you've been seeing and knows what's normal for you.

Oh, hang in there honey, that swelling sounds miserable! :hug99:

Do speak up next time if you feel that something isn't happening right at the hospital. I was in L&D last week, and the on-call doctor wanted to give me something to stop contractions. I said no, and my DH backed me up. Later that week, I talked to my OB and she was really surprised about them wanting to give me that, and thought I did the right thing.

Please let us know what your OB says! Take it easy!!! And call your doctor right away if anything new develops.
