Ok first of all my girls are almost 4 months. My oldest daughter has to be at school by 7:30. My twins had been waking up at about 4:00am to eat about 5oz. So last night I told my husband that I was going to need his mom to start feeding them at 8am, 12pm, & 4pm. 6oz at these feedings. Then at 7:00pm I could give them another 4oz bottle before bed. I was trying to do it this way and we were getting about 26 or 27oz a day. Well I guess the girls knew I had come up with a plan for somewhat of a schedule so they slept till 6:30am. I was very proud of the sleep, but it threw everything off. When they woke up they acted like they wanted to eat, but when I gave them their bottle Hope barely drank 4oz and Grace drank 2oz. So my question is how do I get them to take their bottle better in the morning? Should I have let them wait till they got to my mil to eat at 8am, so we could get some kind of scedule? They never eat very good first thing in the morning...Why? Grrrrr. We need a schedule. I can tell they are starting to get ready for a schedule. Eating, naps, & bedtime. They already sleep so good at night. I just think a schedule would help them be even happier.

    Help,
    Missy

    MIssy,
What a timely post - my daycare provider just called to ask what time the twins ate last because they weren't taking their morning bottle very well. They usually eat overnight once anytime between 2am and 5am, but then they never eat all that well for the 1st bottle.

I don't know why, but just wanted to let you know I'm right there with ya! I'll be interested to hear what folks have to say about it. I thought maybe it was a sign they didn't need that overnight bottle, but darn if they don't suck it down like they are hungry!

    Looking forward to the responses,
    Suzi

    Missy,

I wish I could help as well but all I can say is my DD and DS are the same age (as you know) as yours and we are having/ have been having the same problem as you. Actually, Lily is not eating more than 3 oz. at a time at all right now and Jack only ate 2oz. of his morning bottle. I wish that I could help you more but I have given up. I guess they do what they do and once we "figure them out" they go and change on us.

    Also looking forward to responses.

When they start to drop that nighttime bottle, you kind of have to play with the schedule for a bit to get it working right. If they are still taking that night bottle, but only 2oz, I think they are ready to drop it. You might need to just move the schedule around a little, instead of 8, 12, 4, try 7, 11, 3. Good luck!!

I'm having the same problem you are. My girls still eat about 2am and don't seem to want that first bottle of the morning lately. They wake up somewhere between 6:30 and 7 and aren't even interested in eating until 7:30 at the earliest. In the last two weeks, they're more likely to play with the bottles, want to talk to me, look around, etc, than eat. And if they do eat well in the morning, they're not hungry for at least four hours.

Our schedule is so off I can't even pretend we have one anymore!

The nights my boys sleep through they wake up wanting a 8 oz bottle. But if they woke up at night and I gave them a bottle, they still get up at 6am, but they refuse to eat until 7 ot 7:30.

I'd say your kids are normal. They just aren't ready to eat at that time.

Mine do the same thing. I kind of equate it to us adults. When my alarm does off at 630am, I don't want ot immediately eat, even though I haven't eaten since 7pm the night before. I take my shower, get dressed, etc, then I eat when I get to work around 830am. And it's not like I'm starving then.

Maybe they just need a little more unwind time in the morning. I would give it a shot trying to hold them off till they get to your MILs. See how that goes, and if it's too long, maybe you need to just give them a little bit in the morning, and bigger bottles later one.

It's all trial and error. Don't you love how they screw up your schedules just when you get them set? good luck!
