What kind of juice does everyone give their babies. When at the pediatrician today was told to push fluids, formula, water and juice. Didn't think to ask if it should be the juice we get with WIC(juicy juice and things like that)or juice found in the baby section.

OH no... not croup... my older DS got that.... i hated it... he even got it as old as 6 once.... when we remolded our house we put in a steam shower... just for the croup... and w/ the arrival of twins, glad i did.... don’t know how many late nights i sat in a ski coat in my back yard w/ DS on the porch swing (cold night air and all...) and him coughing (we live in a canyon) and neighborhood dogs barking back....

 to you and your boys... the good thing is the yucky part end quick....

You can do juicy juice but you should dilute it with water, lots of water. Better than that is pedialyte, and walmart's brand of pedialyte is like $2 compared to $5-6 for name brand. My girls like the grape one.

    Hope they feel better!!

I never do juice. I never buy it so they will have it at freinds houses which is totally fine but they never ask for it at home either.
Just extra sugar they don't need.

My kids drink tons of water though.

I use either Gerber or Beechnut baby juice. You don't have to dilute it at all.

I tried the kind from wic(frozen kind) and it was too harsh for their tummies.

We use Gerber baby juice and dilute it with water. They only get 2 oz of juice mixed with 2 oz of water once a day (most days), that's what our pedi told us to do... not because they are sick, but just to start introducing it.

I hope your boys start to feel better soon!

We use pedialyte too. My boys like the orange one. I think it is like mixed fruit or something.

    Hope they get better soon.

If you have the WIC juice, use that. Like a pp said, just water it down. If the boys have never had juice before, then 3/4 water with 1/4 juice will be tasty enough for them. Otherwise, go 1/2 and 1/2. Apple is probably better for croup than some of the other juices because it doesn't have any substance to it (like pineapple, grape, and orange do).

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for the boys. :) I hadn't even thought about pedialite (ok, no clue how that is spelled LOL) Think I will get some of that today. Lucas has had diarrhea from the antibiotic, so that would probably be best for him.

I actually just took the girls to the doctor today. They have been throwing up some and have diahrrea. They actually act fine though. Their pedi said that they have bad colds and the drainage is making them get sick - all that yucky mucus...poor little girls. She said to push the white grape juice (1/2 juice 1/2 water) - that's good for diahrrea - and if they throw up to give the Pedialyte or Enfamil's version, which she gave me lots of samples of and she said we don't need to dilute the Pedialyte or Enfamil, just the white grape juice.

Dianna, I hope the boys feel better soon! I would recommend Pedialyte or Gerber Juice. Good luck!

I hope they feel better soon. My good friend's son gets croup quite a bit - I always feel so sorry for her DS and her! We always use Pedialyte also when my boys are sick.

You don't need Gerber or Beechnut juice, but you want some 100% fruit juice, without corn syrup or any added sugar. I'd dilute it personally, I think it's just too sweet even for me, and I'd probably try any other kind of drink before giving juice.
