Jonathan and David arrived, 37w 3d

Well, it was a whirl wind of emotion but it was very good. I had a Dr appointment on 4/9/09. My Dr sent me right to L&D because I was in so much pain from my right arm being numb for two weeks straight. I was 3.5cm and 80% effaced, plus I gained 10 pounds in 9 days. I was so swollen that I could not believe my eyes. Once we got to L&D, they wanted me to walk for 2 hours, so DH and I went to the mall because it was raining. Once we returned, we were admitted.

(4/10/09) Thankfully, the boys were doing so well that I was able to get up and walk around for 40 minutes of each hour. I headed for the patio that was available to laboring Moms. Yeap, it was the middle of the night, raining and I was outside. It felt so good to breathe fresh air.

The active labor was very slow for me. I had to go on pitocin, but it was not that bad. My body was changing very slowly, but I was progressing. The Dr. told us that my body was resillient. I did have one narcotic shot and that was heavenly because I was able to sleep. I had not slept for two weeks and it was getting unbearable for my non-rested body. I had an epidural before my water was broken for Baby A. There was very little water left for him.

Transition was good because I had the epidural, but I had to keep having the anesthesioligist top off the epidural. Before I knew it, it was 11pm and my Dr was talking to me about pushing. She wanted my epidural to be slowed down so I can push these boys out.

Finally at midnight (4/11/09), I was starting to push even though they had not put me in the OR yet. It felt good and an hour and a half later Jonathan Thomas joined the world. He weighed in at 6lbs 9oz, 20.5 inches long and healthy.

I was so happy to have had the epidural because they had to turn Baby B. The Dr was elbow deep in my uterus trying to turn him. Since my epidural was slowed down, it was very painful and the anesthesiologist had to give me quite a bit of drugs to get me to relax. The Drs broke my water for Baby B and grabbed the feet and pulled. But one problem, his head got stuck and it was the longest minute in my life. The team was talking about doing a c-section, but using the forceps and doing an episiotomy released him and David Edward joined the world. He weighed in at 6lbs, 6 oz, 21 inches long. David was not crying for the longest time. He was whimpering, but after the NICU pediatrician looked him over he was okay.

We came home on 4/13/09 after the boys circumcision that I had to fight the pediatrician for. She said they were premature and I had already spoken to a Pediatric Urologist to get information about twins prematurity and when the procedure could be done. All I have to say is, I armed myself with the correct, factual information and I won.

I'm surprised your pediatrician gave you an issue over the circumcision. My son was circumsized at the hospital and he was less than his birthweight of 5lbs 15oz at the time.

I love their names BTW! I've always felt that a really cool combination for twin boys would be Jonathan and David! Hopefully as they grow up they will be as close of friends as the biblical pair of friends!
