    Hey everyone!

I finally got a chance to let everyone know my little boys arrived last Friday November 9th!

I had a scheduled induction for the 9th for 7AM. They started the Pictocin right around 7 and when they put the contraction monitor on me I found out I was having contractions every 3 minutes apart! At 7AM! DH and I thought this was going to be quick turn-around (boy were we wrong). Funny thing was is that I never felt the contractions, what I was feeling was the babies kicking like crazy when the contractions were happening (because they didn't like the whole contraction thing).

When my OB came in he did a cervix check and I was 2cm dilated, he checked to see the position of the head of a baby. He told me by 8AM he was going to break my water and that I needed to go ahead and get the epidural so that he could get me moving along. So I got the epidural and waited for my water to broken. Around 8 my OB came back and he broke my water and then it just became a waiting game which we thought was going to be quick.

By noon I was 4cm dilated and when my OB came back he realized my water was still there!!! So he had to break my water again! Apparently I had two sacs that needed to be broken! By 3pm I was still only 4cm dilated and not progressing any further, they kept uping my Pictocin level and then lowering it throughout the day but it would never go past 4cm.

At 5pm my OB checked me again and my epidural was starting to wear off. He checked me out and said he could feel two heads and that both babies were trying to be in the number one spot and becuase of that, he felt they never were going to come out on their own and that my contractions were not progressing as he would like and that a c-section was his only option at this point.

By 5:15 I was in the OR prepped and ready to go. To be honest since I wasn't expecting a c-section I started crying and was really nervous, but DH was there keeping me really calm thoughout the entire process. Within 20 minutes I had to great boys and a couple of problems. I had lost a great quantity of blood during my c-section and passed out during the surgery. I don't remember much after that except my DH told me that they were concerned about my blood and that I passed out and then they took him out of the room. He didn't see me again for about 2 hours in recovery and even then he said they wouldn't let him near me and they were still working on me in recovery (something to do with my uterous). After I was brought to my room, I couldn't keep my eyes open and they were doing blood work on me the entire time I was in my room (it was about 10pm on Friday now). DH said my OB came in and told me that I was going to need a blood transfusion and that I was going to need 5 pints of blood to help make up for what i lost. They started my transfusion around midnight and I continued to have the tranfusions till about 6pm the next day on Saturday.

The sad thing about the entire thing was that I never saw my boys till about 9pm on Saturday because of my light headedness and being strapped to an IV and sleeping so much because of the lack of blood in me. But when I finally saw them I was estatic! they are beautiful and in the grand scheme of things I definitely think everything was worth it to have my little boys with me now.

Jonah weighed 6 lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long
Noah weighed 6 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches long as well

A few things I learned about going into labor NO ONE ever told me and I wish I knew

    1. You have no control of your rectum once an epidural is done. Passing gas is common and FREQUENT and unstoppable and always seems to happen you least want it to happen.
    2. During one of your cervix checks by your doctor he may push against your rectum (see number 1) - and yes you will feel humiliated
    3. If your tube for your clostrum bag is not in deep enough you will lay there they entire day feeling like you have to pee.
    4. Don't bring your cute sock or slippers to wear during the day. The hospital will provide a standard pair for you to wear that WILL get messy and you won't care about.
    5. Make sure your nurse tells your hubby at least one horror story of a DH not eating and passing out - for me at least it was the only way to get him to eat during the day.
    6. If you are getting a planned induction they will tell you not to have any fluids or food after 11PM the night prior. You are allowed to eat the morning of (but be sensible - eat a banana or something solid and small) - they won't turn you a way.
    7. Be willing to pee and have a bowel movement in front of a nurse or a doctor.

What an amazing story. The sock thing.....yeah I remember that one. I ruined my socks and my "special" blankie. No one ever tells you that you are going to pee all over when you push. I am having a c-section. So we will see what wonderful new things I learn too. Congrats on your kiddo's. I am glad you are feeling ok now.

Congrats on your boys :) I love their names. :)

Ok with your list. Why do you have to get a clostrum bag? Is that because of getting an epidural? And you had to use the bathroom in front of a doctor or nurse? Is that standard? I know when I had my girls in a military hosptial years ago, didn't have to go in front of them just someone had to see I did before I could check out. Ok, have to say your list is freaking me out and I have already had two babies. Didn't have an epidural, whatever they did give me I was so out of it, I don't remember much of the deliveries.

    Hey Dianna,

I had to get a bag because of the epidural. Once I got the epidural I wasn't allowed out of the bed and the bag became my "new bathroom" :(. Also after my c-section and they removed my bag, I had to use the bathroom twice in front of a nurse to make sure everything came out "ok" and I really couldn't walk anyway and need the extra help to get to the toilet. Apparently this is pretty standard because one of the onsite classes we had to take while we were in the hospital we were all talking about their are no secrets in delivering a baby.

    Hope this helps :)
