It is our Ob's policy to put all Moms of multiples on bedrest at 26 weeks. I managed to get my BR date pushed back to today instead of December 7th so I could go into the office for just a little longer. I just wanted to say hello and ask how everyone keeps themself occupied...? I am very afraid of the month of January! Ugggg.

Oh, I have no complications so it is very hard for me to sit still ;)

I have never heard of such a policy. That is a long time to be on bedrest, especially when you dont have any complications! Good Luck, enjoy the rest while you can.

    Hello!
I was put on bed rest at 31weeks 4days due to preterm labor-contractions and dilation, there were no plans until then to take me out of work or put me on bed rest. I was trying to live life without letting this twin pregnancy interfere...with work, home, taking care of my dd, this bed rest has forced me to slow down and that is obviously what I needed-it is working. It has now been almost two weeks and I am still growing these babies...even my doctor said I had less then two weeks before he thought I would be delivering, so thank you trebutaline and bed rest!!!
I spend my days watching TV, reading, on the internet and I have to remind myself everyday that one more day is making these babies stronger.
Good luck-as pp said, I am really suprised your doctor put you on bed rest so early with out any complications, hopefully it will be successful!

I am not on bedrest....yet...but my office has a policy of 24 weeks. I told them we will make that decision when/if we have to, not based on a number.

    Good Luck!
It is very hard if you are a busy-body....I found it soooo hard to not clean & tidy up the house & have to rely on my husband for everything!!
I was on bedrest since Thanksgiving, but only for about 3 weeks, I am having my c-section this Friday. I honestly think that those 3 weeks of bedrest really helped me get to my 37 weeks before delivering - so try your hardest to lay down & relax (even though It may not be very comfortable!) It will soo pay off in the long run!

Thanks everyone! I so admire those of you who have endured weeks on end! I keep telling myself it is helping my babies so I don't mind as much. The Ob we go to has a fertility practice and they are very strict with Moms of Multiples. These twins were natural but since we selcted this practice we are subjected to the same rules and regs of perhaps even more high risk Moms. I now have weekly appointments when they manually check my cervical length. There is no debating them on their policies, if we don't adhere we have to find another Doctor! Next baby my dh and I will go to another practice but since we are so far in we decided to stick with them. They actually had a physicans meeting to vote whether I could extend bed rest for two weeks! Crazy! They do claim to have little to no NICU time with this policy and in fact a friend of mine had twins and went to the same practice and her boys were born at 7lb 14 oz each with no NICU. She swears by the bed rest policy.

I think the worst part is the people that say, I wish someone would put me on bed rest! Um, no you don't the first day might be okay but it is very boring and lonely! It is not a vacation.

I would talk with your doc about what you can do since you are not having complications and doing well so far. I've been on bed rest for 8 weeks now and the best piece of advice I can give you is to get yourself on a schedule. It helps the day go by faster. I also do a lot of computer games, tv, movies, and read. I love to cook so it's been a challenge figuring out easy quick meals I can actually still make and I have spent lots of time on line looking at recipes.
It really does get easier as time goes by....
    Good luck

Bedrest is no fun, but it does seem to be working so far. Just have to find ways to pass the time. I spend a lot of time on the laptop. When your doctors put you on bedrest, is it strict bedrest (bathroom only) or are they letting you do a few things around the house? It seems like if you don't have any complications they would at least let you walk around your house some...

Hi Bed rest people... I am also on bed rest, since 28 weeks. My issue is contractions from a "irritable uterus" very original medical term if you ask me haha.... goes right along with my "incompetent cervix". So I am irritable and incompetent and in bed ! haha.
I can say though, that I believe it's the best thing... I have only a few BH when I"m resting and if I try and cheat when my husband leaves and walk around the house, then the real trouble starts. So I say even though some OB's just recommend it for precaution reason, it can't hurt so why not.
I read books, watch TV, knit, do crosswords, surf the net on laptop, play cards with my husband and stalk friends by phone haha.
I've only been on rest for two weeks and I know it can get hard. Two things I couldn't do it without are my memory foam mattress topper and an electric heating pad for your hips, they are lifesavers :)

Good luck to those that are bed resting.
    Happy New Years

    Welcome!
I have been on bedrest for 32 days now- with another five weeks to go (hopefully). I am a "control freak" and a "doer" so I know how hard it can be to just lay on the couch or in bed and not get up and do anything. Hopefully the time will pass quickly for you. Everyday I try to stay positive and be grateful I am at home resting, instead of the hospital (which I think would be so much harder) and try to get rest and make the best of it knowing once these babies get here I'll be begging for time to myself on the couch! B) :D
    Hang in there!

Welcome, glad you found us! I've been on bedrest for almost 10 weeks now due to PTL with cervical shortening/dilation. I know it's hard but looking back, it's gone really fast! All I can say is thank goodness for target.com and I totally agree about the memory foam - but mine's the pillow. I can't sleep on my bed at all anymore, strictly a recliner girl these days!

Thanks POWs...Prisoners of (our own) Wombs! ;)

The PA told us at the last appointment that I am not to do anything but lay around, only get up for the bathroom, shower, etc. It seems ridiculous when as I said I have no complications. I have been up and about a little but I am resting for 80% of the day. I am already in week 2 so I am quite pleased with myself. We are also going to a party tonight for an hour or so which I am really excited about!

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping? Not from maternity pains but my brain is so active with thoughts about the health, safety, and overall well being of these babies that I don't sleep well at all!
