I went for an u/s on 06/07 to check growth. Everything seemed fine during the u/s but when I got home they called and said the Dr. wanted us back in for a doppler of the cords. So we had that done later in the day and then the u/s tech said the Dr. wanted to see us. We started thinking something had to be wrong-because we waited and waited, almost 2 hours-he was in surgery which was taking longer than anticipated. The offices closed and we had to goto L & D, where they hooked me up to machines and monitored me.

Finally the Dr came in and said James (baby B) was below the growth threshold, that the dopplers done earlier looked good, but he wanted to get them out. I was 1cm only. He left to setup an induction for the next morning. He came back and said why don't we get it started tonight, want to run home and come back?

So that's what we did. After some paperwork I got cervidal? I don't quite know what it was called... certidal? whatever. And every 4 hours there after. I then was monitored for an hour after each dose. At around 8am my Dr. checked me and I was 2cm-he stretched me to 3cm.

Around 9:30 I got my water broke and I went almost immediately from the stretched 3 to 6cm. I got my epidural-the Dr. had suggested it and while I wasn't wanting one I trusted his opinion (baby b was breech). Around 2:30 I started pushing. I pushed for 3 hours but Evelyn was coming out wrong and I wasn't able to get her over the pelvic bone. Around 5:50/6pm I was wheeled in for a c-sec.

Evelyn Cora was born at 6:10pm weighing 5lbs 11oz and 18" long.
James Mitchell was born at 6:11pm weighing 4lbs 15oz and 16.5" long (though at his follow-up they said he was 17.5 and I think that's more accurate)

Evelyn was wheeled away soon after birth because she was grunting and the pedi was afraid she was having troubles breathing. Turns out she had a hole in her lung, but it ended up being all okay. She spent the first day under an oxygen mask. I didn't see her till around 1am the next morning. James was brought into our room but quickly left because his blood sugars were low. They brought him in the next day only to have to return because he couldn't regulate his temperature. Eventually we did have him that night and the third as well. Evelyn wasn't in our room long on the second day when she was put under the phototherapy lights until the next day. James develop Jaundice after we got him home and has been on his blanket but we think he'll be off today.

As of today Evelyn weights 5lbs 12oz and James is now 5lbs-no more carbed!! YEY!

BF is going well, and although I am tired at night (we are feeding under pedis care every 2/3 hours and supplementing at each feed till their weights are a bit higher-we see him again on Friday unless James has to get a heel pick again for his jandice and am hoping to quit then.. they are eating less and less of the supplement (expressed breastmilk)).

I'm doing really well after the c-sec, much better than I think I ever thought it would be. I do wish I hadn't had to have it, but Im' so glad James & Evelyn are here and healthy that at that point it didn't matter anymore.

So photos-that's what everyone really wants, right?
