    Hi!

I just had my 1st u/s after my IVF at 7wks/1 day and the u/s showed 2 h/b's....127 and 119 (she was having a hard time getting to the 119 b/c it was in the back) and the embryos measured 6wks/5days and 6wks/4days. There was also a 3rd gestational empty gestational sack.

My dr was happy with h/b's and said the the slower growth was expected with a multiples pg.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

My two IVF babes were behind until around 12 weeks. We even did a 6 day transfer since they were 'slow' to go to blastocyts...they were right on when they were born at 31.6- one was even a 'bit' big for a girl (3.14) and the other was spot on average (3.8). Considering I did not eat and was on Magnesium the last week- they would have been heavier.

IVF is so nerve wracking! Best wishes!

My twins are IVF...it was only one baby though that was behind.

At my 6w1d u/s I had a baby that was measuring a day behind and the other baby was a full week behind measuring at 5w1d. She didn't have a heartbeat yet whereas Baby A did.

A week later I had another u/s at 7 weeks and both had heartbeats but Baby B was still a week behind, measuring at 6w1d. She continued to measure a week behind all throughout my pregnancy. She ended up being 2.5lbs smaller then her brother (he was 7.10lbs and she was 5.3lbs)

Also remember it's very normal to measure +/- as much as 7 days in the early weeks. The bab (ies) are still very tiny and it's hard to get an exact measurement. They both have great heartbeats.

My twins were conceived via IUI (insemination), so we knew when their conception date was. It wasn't until after 12 weeks that the measurement were consistent and "normal". I think that I had a 3rd sac as well that discharged (very bloody) around my 11th week. That was very scary experience since I wasn't prepped that it could happen and still have a healthy pregnacy afterward. Needless to say, I made it to 38 wks 1 day, and now have 2 happy, healthy boys.

Try not to worry and as hard as it is, just wait and see what happens. All you can do at this point is stay healthy, and provide a good environment for those babies.

    Good luck!!

My little ones have measured on-time (with-in a day or two) from the get-go. A difference of a few days from their actual gestation age is not uncommon and is considered normal and okay.

At my 24w1 day appt last week they measured 24w1d! :D

    Congrats!!

I guess I am the odd girl out, or atleast lucky girl! My twins, conceived through IVF, have never been behind one day, even at 6 weeks. In fact, my dr. says that they are measuring ahead for the average twins at this age. I think that all twin pregnancies are different, regardless of how they were conceived. I'm sure your twins will be just fine and perfectly healthy!

i think it all depends on who measured them. when my RE did it, he would run in, quickly check hb and them do the measurement in a matter of a second and run out. with him, mine always were behind from 1-6 days.... when his PA did it, she took time and hers were actually a couple days ahead...once i got to OB, he said u/s measurements are on average 5-7 days off and not to be concerned with one week variations. but whenever he did it, babies were one on schedule, the other one 3 days ahead. ..don' worry with 1 week error...

Mine always measured one week ahead. It's TOTALLY normal cuz babies are people and they are all different shapes and sizes!

    Congratulations!! I wouldn't worry a bit!

My girls are IVF miracles and
they went through spurts where they would measure a day or two off they never made a big deal about that it was at 30 weeks when there was a 2week difference and a low fluid level w/ baby A that landed me on bedrest!

    CONGRATULATIONS
