    Hi Ladies,

Of course after reading the twin book I did about how important weight gain early on in a twin pregnany is, I am probably over-concerned.

A few days ago I weighed myself and I had gained three lbs. Okay, not too bad. I am already a very overweight person and I figured the three lbs was a good start. However, those three lbs are gone. I've been having a lot of morning sickness but most of it is dry heave - only 1 in 5 times will I actually lose food.

I've been eating fast food cheeseburgers pretty regularly - they're one of the only things I find appealing. I eat plenty of peanut butter and eggs, too. So, healthy fats and protein in there too.

I am just concerned about the 3 lbs loss. Especially since I've been eating such fatty foods!

A little encouragement or BTDT advice would be welcome. I have Zofran for the MS but it really doesn't work for me like it used to. I was sick a LOT during my son's pregnancy - and expect this to be just as bad if not worse. However, I gained 60+ lbs with him!

I lost weight my entire first trimester, but caught up a lot in my second trimester. I am now at 29 weeks and just had my OB appointment today and have gained a total of 33 pounds. I don't think it as much of a big deal in the first trimester...

I lost about 10 lbs in my first trimester. I think I put those 10 lbs back on in about 2 weeks though...after the morning sickness passed. So don't worry!

I lost about 12 pounds in the first trimester. By week 25, I was finally up to my pre-pregnancy weight. Now, at 34 weeks, I'm only 6 or 7 lbs above my starting weight. I too was kinda heavy to start with. It concerns me, but but my doc isn't concerned, as long as I'm still eating.

I lost weight the first trimester. Now at 27 weeks I've gained about 15 lbs.

Don't let that twin book scare you. What you're going through is normal.

I had lost about 15 lbs by week 17.. Then after that i started packing on the weight... I ended up 30 over my pre-pregnancy weight and i had a 7 lb and a 5 lb 11 oz baby!!! Dont worry about early weight loss.. Unless your OB seems worried.. :)

Also remember that you may get slightly different readings at different times of day. And if I'm reading your message right, it sounds like you are comparing your weight today to the reading just a few days ago, which may not be accurate.

You can't help it if you're having a lot of morning sickness. Also, that book can be very helpful, but not even someone with NO morning sickness (like me) could possibly eat as much as she says to eat. So don't stress about it too much.

Actually, I only weigh myself first thing in the morning after a BM and before I eat/drink (outside of the fluid I take in to take my synthroid first thing in the morn). I was steady with a 3lb gain for a few days in a row.... it just seemed like a fast weight loss.

I am just paranoid. This PG is just SO DIFFERENT than my first! In every way!

I didn't lose weight during my first trimester, but I did only gain 2 lbs. I didn't have m/s, I was just not hungry. I had to force myself to eat, so I ate small meals during the day... more like snacks. My twins are right on for their g/a and everything is going great so far. I wouldn't worry to much. I finally got my appetite back last week and can actually enjoy a meal now. I still only eat about 2 times a day for a meal, but at least I still have my snacks during the day, too. Just think of it this way, more chance to gain later when it really does matter to help fatten up those babies!!!

I lost too. I was sick sick sick. Couldn't keep a thing down. Even though I threw up every single day of my pregnancy, I did still gain 30 lbs, and it was plenty. I had 6 pound twins and carried them full term. Eat what sounds good when you can and you'll be allright!

Don't worry! In my first tri, I lost weight. Was too nauseous to eat! My RE assured me that the babies take what they need FIRST! Second tri, I got my appetite back! While I think weight gain is important, without trying, I have put on weight - so far about 24 pounds. But, I didn't even start gaining weight until the second tri!

Hi there, here is what my peri told me, the books and charts are for average people....if you weigh more, then you need to gain less, the babies will feed off of you current "stock"!!! They are burning calories 24-7. So keep on doing what you are doing, and you may not gain any this first trimester....I have now put on 33 lbs in 32 weeks, and none of that was the first trimester even though I was showing...I am very small, 5' tall and weighed 110 after my fertility treatments.

You are on the right track!!

I lost a ton of weight my first semester--and I was in really good shape before I got pg!!! I just couldn't keep any food down.

By about 22 weeks I was back to my pre-preg. weight, and now, at 34 weeks I am up 13 lbs. from pre-pregnancy--and the boys estimated weights put them at almost 11 lbs. combined!!! Thats more than my twin and I weighed when we were born at 37 weeks!

I wouldn't worry about weight loss so early on--you should gain it back in the second tri. :)

I lost weight up until 20 weeks really. I was very overweight to begin with, so my OB reassured me that it was ok. He said most Mom's have a hard time putting anything on until then anyway. I was reading books that told me a pound a week was recommended. In the end, I gained 38 lbs. and the babies were 6 lb. 4 oz. and 7 lb. Try not to worry too much. As long as they are growing, you're doing great.

I wasn't terribly sick in the beginning but did not have an appetite (And I got a virus that made me sick) - I lost 7 lbs in the first 12 weeks - but 18 weeks I had gained it all back - I am now just at my pre-pregnancy weight. The boys are right on target for their weight so my doctor is not concerned -I am sure I have gained more weight becuase I am eating like crazy now!!!

Don't worry or fret about it - as long as the babies seem healthy I am sure you are ok. HAve you tried drinking ensure? it is only good if it is VERY cold, but you could make it into a shake and that might help.

I lost a total of 12 lbs, at this point I have only gained 4 lbs. I am on the not skinny side if you know what I mean. But there is no concern here either!

I will let you know..I had very bad m/s the whole 9 months during my twin pregnancy. I lost 35 lbs during the whole pregnancy. At the end of the 9 months (39 weeks) I had only gained back 10 lbs. The babies weighed 6lbs and went home with me right away. They were healthy and happy. I was just a very sick pregnant woman..and lost a lot of weight. My doctors never told me to "try" and gain. I usually only ate canned peaches during my pregnancy. I lived on those..because it was the only thing I wouldn't throw up. Seriously..I looked like a skeleton with a gigantic belly at the end. LOL

I hope you feel better soon. As long as you are trying to get something in your body..and you are drinking fluids you will be ok. Also your babies are going to make sure they get what they need..so your body might just lost some weight. :)
