:DI've been feeling so torn and like I never have enough time or energy to be with my girls, both or one after the other... But last week I sat down and looked into babywearing, especially after seeing two moms in moby wraps - I wanted to know more! And after watching a few wrapping techniques on youtube I grabbed a few dupattas and made pouches for the girls and out we went to check the mail! Uhm.. dupattas are too thin.... so that wasn't a great idea but we were only a half hour so it was ok.

I just fell in love with my girls all over again. I mean, what a bonding experience! we've gotten so much more closer and it's been less than a week!!!!!! My girls were born early at 34weeks exactly and spent a few weeks in NICU before coming home. It wasn't the way I wanted it to go - and I didn't know that I was feeling anything out of the ordinary because of that - but after doing this - I feel more complete. More complete in my life, in being a mamma of twins, and in my love for them.... not just as kids I'm taking care of and I adore and yes they are mine. but MY kids. MY GEMS. I'm totally in love with them again, like I felt when they were inside me. Beautiful feeling!!!

Carrying my two girls and having my hands free, the weight distributed more on my body and not just my arms and my back and later on dying from the headache and back and neck pains!

I felt so close to them and as if it was a truly bonding experience. I'm desperate to have that each and every day now. Not always together mind you! but I was so desperate that I cut up a sheet the next day and out we went. Each time several neighbors were outdoors and either stopped me to chat or admire the girls or my prowess(lol). And I wasn't DYING. ok, my feet were, but not what usually killed me and we were free of those carseats and WOW!!

Anyways, I just wanted to put this out there in case other moms wanted to venture to babywear but were hesitant. There is so much more out there than what you find in Target or some other store! So much more and so many options, you will no doubt find one that you will fall in love with. maybe two or more!

I'm going to try to find a babywearing group around me to get more advice and to try on other styles. I like the idea of a Mei Tai as well... and I'm determined to wear one on my back and one on my front as soon as I can manage!

    anyone else babywear?

im so glad you posted that! i just ordered a moby wrap, it should be here by wednesday and i cant wait. my boy will not let me put him down, and im getting sooo frustrated with not being able to get anything done, on top of feeling bad for ignoring my girl! im getting a pouch sling too, but you can only carry one baby in it. ah thank you again, now im even more excited for it to get here

Bernice, that is great!! I have a sling, and didn't use it a ton, but I still use it every now and then and love it!

I made 2 slings out of flannel bed sheets. One had cars and truck on it and one had flowers. I wore them opposite ways. They both loved it. Now they are entirely too heavy. I wish I could find a comfy way to wear one of them now. I have a snugli and hate it to pieces!

I love my mai tai. So far I've only mastered front carry, babies love it too. I wish there were more options for caarrying two. If you find anything let me know! My babywearing group was helpful, but not for learning how to carry at the same time.

    TOH!!

I love my moby wrap! But my guys are too big to wear at the same time in the same sling, so I only wear one at a time! Nothing calms my fussy guy down more than being worn, face-out to watch the world!
(I have a good friend who also has a moby and loves to baby-wear, and her kids are older now, so she often wears one of my twins when we are out together!)

I never used slings for the twins, but have been enjoying my hotsling with Evan! I was also gifted a Moby Wrap and is that comfortable?!!! They are both great!! I highly recommend them.

i adore my moby wrap! the boys hold their heads up now so i usually wear them facing out and they love it, too! but, i loved cradling them the best;). i also have a baby k'tan, which goes on really easy so i keep it in our diaper bag. dh uses baby bjorn and loves that, and we have an ergo on the way, as well. it's great to wear your babies!

I'm so glad there are more out there who are doing this! Awesome!!! I needed (was in desperate need) to find more twin mamas who are doing or want to do this.

There are so many carriers out there, it's insane! Rebozo, Mei Tai, Podegi (podaegi), wraps (not just moby which doesn't work so well when your babies get bigger due to the stretchy material).
storchenweiges (one of the most popular and it's not hard to see why!): http://www.storchenwiege.com/
    didymos: http://www.didymos.com/
GypsyMama: (more inexpensive like Moby): http://gypsymama.com/

I actually just bought some linen from joann's and split in half, double rolled hem - braiding and using it around the place to soften, I LOVE it! I'm going to dye it next. lol I did dye some cotton knit a wine color and I use it as two slings. Either baby on either hip or one in the middle. Here are some pics of us!

Me and my sheets (too bulky, wrong material, all wrong, but good support and love having my babies near!

Ruby on front in cotton knit slings:

and together! (slings with ruby in first and after getting it nice and snug I took her out and then I wrapped up sammi, finally replacing ruby):

I don't have the shoulders right (I'm trying to figure out which should go on first and where the straps should go and sammi's right side is a bit looser than I like (although underneath that her fabric is snug enough to keep her secure, it's just me being a perfectionist. DH tried to help since i can't reach behind my back. I'm going to try rucksack carriers instead. They seem waaay more simpler and im learning so much about what I like and don't like by experimenting on DH. :) he's a trooper!

oh and DD6 has a problem with her hips. we got x-rays but nothing conclusive. She walks with her hips tucked in and with a funny gait. So when I read up on how certain carriers aren't good for baby hips and development, right away I started to look into it. the major study is done by a german doctor and it's not translated (well, most of it isn't.) but there are other doctors who are doing their own studies as well.

Tammy: try twill, bottomweight material, gauze (aka muslin), linen, interlock, and jacquards (storches are jacquards according to their website).

esaesa: I want to make a frankenkozy! And I've seen pictures on TBW site of carrying two! http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=59

I plan on babywearing for as long as possible. With the right carrier that can go on until they are in preschool (up to 3 or 4yrs old!) but of course, not both at the same time. lol

cottoncandysky: I made two pouches and can carry both, one on each hip and their weight is even on my shouldrs - but I can't handle that much weight on my shoulders. I'll post pics!

Jl: hi!! Well, i'm sorry that things ended up that way but I'm glad everything is good now! And thank you, but congrats to you as well!!

I wear both mine one on the front & one on the back! I love it! I can keep them both close & quiet, and often it is the only way I get Ethan to nap!! Anyway, I use a moby on the front and an Ergo on the back. They say both can carry a child up tp 40 lbs, but I am not sure the moby would be comfy at that weight, but we shall see! Right now my two weigh 20 lbs 12 ozs & 17 lbs 7 ozs so they are not tiny and carrying them both is not bad at all! In fact, on average I wear them for at least 2 hours at a time and it is fine! I would definately recommend an Ergo, it is a little expensive ($92), but well worth it... Just for the fun of it I carried my 38 lb daughter in it and had no trouble at all! Also, the Ergo can be worn on the hip front or back!

I love my ergo carrier. front back and side. Mine ar etoo big to carry both but it sure helps when I need an extra hand.

I'm leaning more towards wrapping and MT's ... Especially since I can make my own and put my own unique flair to them. Meanwhile I'm saving up for a didy or storch!!!
