I went for my IUD this morning. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was horrible. She said my cervix was not open enough to do it, so she tried some dialaters (sp?). Those did not open me up enough, so she used more. Did I mention this was HORRIBLE? She finally got it in, but I have to go back this afternoon for an ultrasound to make sure the positioning is correct. PLUS, I have to be on antibiotics since she had to do so much stuff to me. It hurt like heck. I have a high tolerance for pain and that hurt BAD. She said it is very unusual for her to have to go through all that just to put an IUD in. No kidding, I should have had a freaking epidural for that.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through all that pain to get that IUD in.

I was considering getting one myself, but during my 6 wk PAP I realized that my stitches [inside] desovled and my cut didn't heal. So the entire time I was getting the PAP if felt like knives were stabbing me. It reminded me of when I got my tattoo actually.

Just sharing a recent painful experience with ya. Pain sucks; especially when it's down there.

:hug99: :hug99: I'm sorry you had such a bad expierence. I am going in at 4:15pm today to have my Mirena IUD insert. I am hoping it isn't that bad. I was going to take a 1/2 a Valium to calm me before hand.

Now I feel terrible for posting this. I don't want you to be scared because I think my situation was very abnormal. Best of luck with yours. I know yours will be easy. ;)

Thank God the ultrasound shows it is in correctly, because I was not about to let her try it again.

Owww. I go in 5 weeks to get a mirena. I figure it will be worth the pain if it works (unfortunately you aren't the first one who I've heard it be uncomfortable for so I am expecting some pain). Hopefully my cervix will cooperate. I'm glad yours got put in right and now you are ok.

I got mine put in this afternoon at 4:15pm and just felt a little stinging pain. The doctor said "ok" and I was like it's in already? I just have a bit of cramping tonight like a heavy period. Glad your ultrasound showed it was positioned correctly.

That does sound painful! I hope it was all worth the effort. I know I love mine, but certainly did not have to go through all of that.

Ahhh! I'm sorry you had to go through all that. You are much braver than me, though, I am too scared to even think about getting one.

You are sooooooo lucky. Glad it turned out good for you.

When I went back for the ultrasound. I was the talk of the office. The insurance lady, the ultrasound lady, the nurses, etc. where all saying they had heard what a horrible ordeal I went through. I have never paid $500 before (my deductible) to be tortured like that.
